Nedward "Ned" Flanders is a fictional character on The Simpsons, voiced by Harry Shearer, who lives next door to the Simpsons with his family and is generally considered a pillar of the Springfield community. Since the episode "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily" he is a widower.

He is a devout Christian.

He was one of the first characters outside of the immediate Simpson family to appear on the show — his ownership of a vast and sparkling-new Winnebago, the Land Behemoth sparked the action of the very first regular episode. It has been revealed that Ned Flanders was named after Northeast Flanders St. in Portland, Oregon, the hometown of Simpsons creator Matt Groening. The street sign, NE Flanders St., is often defaced to read NED Flanders St.

Robert Underdunk Terwilliger, better known by his stage name Sideshow Bob, is a fictional character on The Simpsons. He is voiced by Kelsey Grammer, who won an Emmy for the role in 2006.

He was originally Krusty the Klown's TV sidekick, and was often fired out of a cannon. (He also communicated solely with a slide-whistle, despite being well-spoken).

He has since become a villainous homicidal maniac. He is known for his abnormally large feet and hair, which give him the appearance of a palm tree, as well as his grandiloquence and inability to actually kill anyone, especially his archenemy Bart Simpson.

Police Chief Clancy Wiggum (voiced by Hank Azaria) is a fictional character from the animated television series The Simpsons.

Clancy Wiggum was possibly born in Baltimore, Maryland. He mentioned he used to sell ribbons there with his father, Iggy. Iggy was a war veteran who died in a parade float accident in 1979, along with Arnie Gumble, Sheldon Skinner, Etch Westgrin, and Griff McDonald, all members of Abe Simpson's Flying Hellfish. Apparently he did however grow up in Springfield and was among the same class and age group as Homer Simpson, Lenny Leonard, Carl Carlson, Barney Gumble, and possibly Marge Simpson.

Wiggum is the chief of police of the Springfield police department. He is an extreme stereotype: morbidly obese, dim witted, ignorant, grossly incompetent, lazy, with a fondness for doughnuts and "Chintzy Pop". His voice is based on Edward G. Robinson's. He has little regard for individual rights or even public safety. He is disturbingly uninformed ("Some Chinese people claimed they were celebrating New Year's in February ... good food though") and flaunts his power, albeit with good intentions most of the time. He, along with the rest of Springfield's government and police force, is also corrupt, having asked for or taken bribes several times. As an example of this, in The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase he moves to New Orleans after being kicked off the Springfield Police Force for massive corruption, although this segment was something of a spoof. He has also notably solicited Troy McClure and Homer Simpson for bribes in exchange for "looking the other way" to their criminal activities. He has a strained relationship with Mayor Quimby, as the two men vie to have control over the city (once leading to a serious argument over who takes over during an emergency during the Monorail crisis). Wiggum claims to have compromising photographs of the mayor ("You don't scare me; that could be anyone's ass!"), which may help to explain why he has retained his job despite a general lack of competence.

Jebediah Obadiah Zachariah Jedediah Springfield is the purported historical founder of the town of Springfield. Springfield had many famous quotations, such as "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man," and was well known for his silver tongue (literally; a metal prosthetic tongue, his original tongue having been bitten off by a Turkish pirate in a grog house fight).

Springfield led a band of wagons westward along with his partner Shelbyville Manhattan (They had misinterpreted a passage of the Bible and were looking for "New Sodom"); but they parted ways when Manhattan wanted to found a town where people could marry their cousins, and Springfield wanted a town devoted to: chastity, abstinence, a flavorless mush he called root-marm and where people would be free to worship how they wanted and "grow hemp for making ropes". Manhattan went on to found the rival town of Shelbyville. In the winter of 1807 Jebediah reportedly built Springfield's first hospital alone out of wood and mud.

On an expedition to Springfield's historic "Fort Springfield," Bart Simpson uncovered inconsistencies in the Jebediah legend. In "Lisa the Iconoclast," Lisa Simpson proved that "Jebediah Springfield" was a bloodthirsty pirate and enemy of George Washington named Hans Sprungfeld, who had changed his name in 1795 to hide his identity and who hated the town of Springfield. This was written on the historical "missing piece" of George Washington's portrait.

Springfield is said to have dramatically killed a bear with his bare hands. A statue of this sits in the center of the Springfield town square, in front of the city hall (the bear probably killed him). He is also said to have once tamed an untamable buffalo (although he later secretly admitted that it had already been tame; he merely shot it). The Springfield Marathon commemorates an occasion on which he ran across six states in order to avoid his creditors. In The Telltale Head, Bart beheaded the statue, thinking that this would make him more popular. In reality, the town became depressed and angry, leaving Bart to endure The Tell-Tale Heart - style guilt before replacing it.

Herschel Shmoikel Pinkus Yerucham Krustofski (Hebrew: הרשל שמויקל פינקוס ירוחם קרסטופסקי, born c.1930s ), more commonly known as Krusty the Clown, is a fictional character on The Simpsons (His name was originally Herschel Schmoikel Krustofski, but it has changed since the episode "Today I Am a Clown". The spelling of the first and last name has been confirmed in "Bart the Fink"). He is voiced by Dan Castellaneta. Krusty is the long-time clown host of Bart and Lisa's favorite TV show. The TV show is a combination of kiddie variety-television hijinks with a sidekick, and cartoons (including the Tom and Jerry parody Itchy and Scratchy). One Krusty trademark is changing the spelling of many words that begin with C to instead begin with K, as evidenced by the original spelling of his name, Krusty the Klown, and with such events as the unfortunately-named Krusty's Komedy Klassics (KKK).

A common argument in this biography of Krusty is his age, there are many different references to his age but in the episode "Day of the Jackanapes", Krusty announces, again, the end of his entertainment career, which he says has lasted 61 years, these years added to the approximate age at which he would have started would lead people to believe he is aged around the late 70's.

The episode "Like Father, Like Clown" (based on the film The Jazz Singer), first released on October 24, 1991, expanded on his origin. According to it, he was born Herschel Schmoeckel Krustofski and is of Jewish heritage. Krusty is a third generation American. In 1902, Krusty's grandfather Zeev Krustofski left Imperial Russia for the United States and gained entry through Ellis Island.[1] His son Hyman Krustofski became an Orthodox rabbi and a leader of his community, whose wise counsel (such as if it is right to buy a Chrysler) is continually sought. Rabbi Krustofski, voiced by Jackie Mason, hoped that his son would follow in his footsteps (he brags that Herschel is at top of his Yeshiva class). However, Herschel wanted to become a clown because he wanted to make people laugh. Consequently, the Rabbi disowned him. Decades later, Krusty memorably reconciled with his father with the assistance of Bart and Lisa.

Bernard "Barney" Gumble (born April 20) is a character on The Simpsons, voiced by Dan Castellaneta. Barney is the Springfield town drunk, the most prominent of several alcoholic Springfielders and Homer Simpson's high school best friend.

Character origins
------------------------
The name "Barney Gumble" is a parody (and near homonym) of "Barney Rubble" of Hanna-Barbera's The Flintstones. Barney Rubble is Fred Flintstone's best friend. An earlier comic strip character from the 1920s was Barney Google. In several of the episodes of the first season, Barney's hair is yellow. Originally, Barney was the best friend of Homer, but in recent seasons, he has been replaced by Lenny and Carl in that role.

Personality traits
-----------------------
Barney is almost always seen in Moe's Tavern, where he is a regular. His desperation for alcohol has been the source of many jokes. He has a quavering, slightly broken voice and a distinctive loud belch (although he sings in a completely different voice, rather like Jim Nabors), as well as a characteristic wandering eye. He remains friendly and good-natured despite his unfortunate condition. Heavyset, slovenly, and unmarried (though occasionally seen with women), he lives in a messy, sparsely-furnished apartment while he is also seen living at Moe's Tavern. He is occasionally seen doing some sort of menial labor, such as working for his Uncle Al at Barney's Bowl-O-Rama, but has also been the owner of a successful snowplowing business and been employed as an astronaut. In the episode "A Star is Burns", Barney states that he is 40 years old and his first name was revealed as Barnard, although he also appears to be in the same high school class as Homer in flashbacks, with Homer's age always stated somewhere in the 30s.

Life story
-------------
Barney is presumably at least half-Polish and half-Norwegian, since his mother comes from Norway. In Treehouse of Horror XVII episode Barney said "I'm Irish" (Moe punches him) "Oh wait, I'm Polish". His father, Arnie Gumble, died in a 1979 parade float accident along with Sheldon Skinner, Iggy Wiggum, Etch Westgrin, and Griff McDonald, all of whom had served in Abe Simpson's WW II squad. Barney once had a near-death experience in which he expected to see his father (as well as a plant he'd never watered) in the afterlife, noting that he would be reunited with "my loved ones, my dad, and that plant I never watered."

Barney is generally portrayed as being Homer Simpson's best friend, known from when they were at school (where Barney was Harvard bound until Homer gave him a beer the night before his SAT). Barney first appeared in the episode 7G08, "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", in which he worked as a department store Santa and gave Homer a tip for winning at the dog track. The season 1 DVD for the series indicates that the script writers originally intended for Barney to be Homer's next-door neighbor.

As a teenager, Barney showed much potential until Homer introduced him to beer. Later on, with Homer, he was a member of The Be Sharps barbershop quartet, which introduced his splendid singing voice. It was heard again in "Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious" and in "Mommie Beerest". Barney showed his artistic side again in the episode 2F31, "A Star is Burns", in which Barney won top prize at the Springfield Film Festival for a moving documentary about his life as an alcoholic, unfortunately titled "Puke-a-hontas".

Barney served in the United States Navy Reserve for a short time, as a submariner on the USS Jebediah (3G04, "Simpson Tide") with his own mother as his superior officer.

This is a second spell with the 'Duffers' for this player. He was originally registered under the name Seymore 'Principal' Skinner, but was forced to leave the league after this was found to be a false representation. This is now sorted and he has returned, but the layoff has caused the player to lose the form he had aquired and he must now start over. Here's hoping he can become the talismanic player he was before the enforced ban.

Seymour "Spanky" Skinner (born in Capital City, 1953, as Armin Tamzarian), known to most of Springfield as Principal Skinner, is a fictional character on the animated sitcom The Simpsons, voiced by Harry Shearer. Due to his real name, it can be argued that he is of Armenian heritage.

Skinner is the principal of Springfield Elementary School, and a stereotypical educational bureaucrat. He struggles to control the crumbling school and is constantly engaged in a battle against its inadequate resources, apathetic and bitter teachers, and often rowdy and unenthusiastic students (Bart Simpson being a standout example). He often tries to exploit Lisa Simpson's genius to make the school look good.

A strict disciplinarian, Skinner has an uptight, militaristic attitude that stems from his years in the army, and service in the Vietnam War. Seymour Skinner's father, Sheldon Skinner, fought on Abe Simpson's World War II squad.

Homer Jay Simpson is a fictional character in the animated television series The Simpsons, voiced by Dan Castellaneta. He has become a popular character and an American icon; his signature annoyed grunt "D'oh!" has been included in the Oxford English Dictionary.[1] Homer is named after and loosely based on show creator Matt Groening's father. The character, proves to show his enthusiasm for his family. His voice was originally based on Walter Matthau.[2]

Matt Groening, the creator of the popular show "The Simpsons", also created Futurama, and the voice of Homer Jay Simpson is used in multiple different characters in The Simpsons and Futurama

The early seasons of the show focused primarily on Bart, but as the series went on and "Bartmania" died down, Homer became more of a focus. Homer embodies several working class American stereotypes. He has a low-level job and is crude, overweight, intolerant, inept, and a borderline alcoholic. Despite being gluttonous, lazy, and often simple-minded, Homer has displayed flashes of brilliance. In spite of his apparently blue-collar status, he has had a number of remarkable adventures. Although often inept, he is a caring and devoted husband and father and has come to be known as a lovable oaf.

Groundskeeper William "Willie" K. MacMorhan (a.k.a. G. K. Willington, Esq.) is a fictional character on The Simpsons, voiced by Dan Castellaneta. He is head groundskeeper at Springfield Elementary School. Willie is a Scottish immigrant, and immensely proud of his homeland. He is easily identifiable by his flaming red hair and beard, as well as his exaggerated Scottish accent. His alias was invented by Lisa Simpson in episode "My Fair Laddy" from season 17.

Willie is a stereotypical Highland Scot, and The Times reported in late 2005 that "he is the most instantly recognizable Scot in the world: better known than Billy Connolly or Ewan McGregor, even Sean Connery." The same article quotes Simpsons creator Matt Groening as saying "We wanted to create a school janitor that was filled with rage, sort of our tribute to angry janitors all over the world".

Kent Brockman is a recurring fictional character from The Simpsons, voiced by Harry Shearer. He is a local TV news "personality" for the fictional KBBL-TV (Channel 6). He ran for Mayor of Springfield during the recall election against incumbent Diamond Joe Quimby.

Brockman hosts the KBBL weekday news (Scott Christian is the weekend news anchor and Kent's fill-in) as well as Smartline, a local current affairs show and Eye on Springfield which focuses mostly on Springfield's entertainment news. His character bears a striking resemblance to Los Angeles news anchor Jerry Dunphy. Another well known anchorman, Lloyd Robertson from Canada (CTV), may be the model for Kent.

Brockman represents the worst of his profession; frequently judgmental, careerist to the point of absurdity, and more than willing to film a schmaltzy, emotion driven puff piece for the sake of a few extra ratings points. He has been seen throwing tantrums because he cannot find certain snack foods, and once blithely announced that the boom operator on his news programme was being fired the next morning (for which he took a clout on the head from the angry soon-to-be-ex-employee). He seems to command excessive levels of power within Channel 6, even having a segment of the news programme to air his own (usually highly reactionary) opinions on current issues called My Two Cents. Despite all of this, he has won a string of media awards, but is most proud of his unspecified trophy from Del Monte.

Brockman was the anchor for an animated Fox News in "Mr. Spritz Goes to Washington", an episode on politics. Brockman has a preteen daughter and a preteen son, and has jealously mentioned his sister, who is a White House correspondent for CNN. Brockman owns a collie named Jessica, whom he had "fixed". At one point, he was fired for using the acronym "SOB" on air but was later rehired for unspecified reasons.

In "Dog of Death", Brockman won the multi-million-dollar ($130 million) state lottery jackpot and left the news desk while still on the air. But, he remained a news anchor because he was under contract, though he also admitted that he likes making $500,000-a-year. He also mentioned to traffic reporter Arnie Pie (with whom he has an ongoing feud) that he made some smart investments when Pie complained about the size of Brockman's house.
