I am using Windows XP and its built in firewall. I'd like to know how to find a port to use in a game without proxy. |

petit-trot:
go into control panel, then network connections.
right click the connection you are using to access the internet and pick properties.
go to the advanced tab
then click the settings button.
here you can add ports to be allowed through.
you need to open port 8080 for players and 8085 for spectators.
Styx:
how do you connect to the internet?
if you type "ipconfig" in a dos box, is the IP address the same as the one you see on your fumbbl overview page? |

sorry.
start menu -> all programs -> accessories -> command prompt
or
start menu -> run... -> cmd.exe
then type "ipconfig" in that window, you'll get some numbers like this:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.2
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
if the numbers listed after IP address is different to the numbers shown on your fumbbl overview page then that is probably your problem.
It means you are sharing one address with other people so you can only make outgoing connections. |
