As an experienced unranked coach ( well at least way past the 100 matches-mark) and a veteran in the FUMBBL community, I have noticed that there are a few things a coach should have done to call himself a "REAL" coach.
To spice up things in the FUMBBL comunity I was considering on creating a merit-based sytem, through which players can gain titles/levels/whateveryacallit as a coach in FUMBBL.
The requirements would be fun and fluffy for the most part, so not purely competitive. Like all muslims want to go to Mekka at least once, every BB-coach should at least once in his career have ...
( I don't see how this remark could be offensive, but if anyone is offended, please forgive me, I am an ignorant non-muslim looking for a metaphor)
I was thinking of making different levels, and a checklist of requirements you have to pass, to call yourself that level.
Anyone any suggestions for levels and requirements, please post them in this thread ! |

As the only Muslim on this site, I am offended!
Well, I'm not offended. But I am the only Muslim on this site.
But I digress. Each REAL coach:
1. Should have no more than 1 team of a certain race in the R division.
2. Should not apply to many tourneys using the same race/type.
3. Should have at least 5 U teams in tourneys at the same time.
4. Should go to Mecca at least once.

A few possible ranks could be...
FUMBBL coach
-----------------------
Any selfrespecting FUMBBL-coach has :

- no more than 1 team of a certain race in the R division
Experienced Coach
---------------------------------
- scored at least 1 TTM
- scored at least 1 (non-TTM) one-turn-TD
- played at least once against every official roster
- had a player make a succesful interception
- fouled without haven gotten the ref with a non-dirty player
Veteran Coach
------------------------
- coached a halfling team and won a match against a non-stunty team
- coached at least 1 player to legendary status (176+ SPP)
- coached a 200+ TR team
- played at least once against every unranked roster
- at least once left no player of the opposing team standing
Legendary Coach
---------------------------
- played at least 1 match against the Terrifying Anarchists of Nagaroth
- coached a 300+ TR team
- played at least once against every unranked roster with 1 team
- at least once left no player of the opposing team on the field
- made more casualties than there were players in the opposing team |

I don't have specific rankings for any of these ... but some of these might be nice goals.
1. Played a game against every LRB race
2. Played a game with every LRB race
3. Played a game with each LRB race against each LRB race (that is something like 400 different combinations ... so there probably aren't that many coaches who'd meet this one)
4. Tried each of the fumbbl divisions .. for more than just 5-6 games.
5. Experimented with DP, just to see how effective it is when used in large quantities.
6. Made 1000 forum posts .. at least one of which was actually useful.
7. Played all the way through a tournament
8. Have run a tournament
9. Helped out by updating the User Guide (i.e. the Help/FAQ wiki)
10. Complained about the luck system .. or the random number generator .. or both at the same time!!! |

I'm a veteran coach if you exclude the unranked part. |

Hmm... let`s see... I am a.. uhm... Fumbbl-Coach. Not even an experienced one, as I miss (or at least don`t remember) a successful TTM-one-turner despite coaching gobbos to 25+ wins and playing some stunty matches.
For the veteran coach I would have to start a fling-team and play 1 game to get this win (it`s no prob to win against rookie non-stunties, when you just freeboot Deeproot and get the chef running). But I guess I will never make it to a legend (had to retire my faction Mega-Star after aging-niggle).
In addition, I seriously doubt, that anyone will make it to the legend. Scoring 15 cas against 14 players is SO unlikely... |

well, legendary should include:
made a one turn with a MA7 player
it's because every noob can one turn with +ma, +ma, sure feet on a woodie catcher or gutter runner
Though I admit that I am only experienced as I never had a halfling team and never had a player at 176SPP |

I think, that we might wanna split different carreer path. Some people don`t play e.g. stuny or unranked outside of tourneys.
1 cas more that players in the opposing team isn`t so hard in a 1on1-match - though most people look down on so-called "records" from 1on1-teams.
So maybe you want to make different title for the ranked-players, for the stunty-madmen, for the tourney-veterans, the forum-jukies and so on.
Oh... and in order to gain the first title you should accomplish something. |

Leaving no player on pitch isn't so rare when playing 4ball |

Damn, I am yet to clear the pitch of real team (4vs4 don't count)...
I once fouled the only player left (peke's ogre) 2 times with 5 assists and dp, only stun *sniff*
Oh Nuffle, why do you deny the clear pitch from me? |
