after having played mostly bashing style teams, i would like a team that can throw the ball.
What is the best elves team for that? |

That would be pro elf.
They got nerves of steel on the catchers.
The problem with pro elves is that they only got av 7, so you have to take good care of them, not giving away to many blocks. |

Just an aside: why do so many people call the Elf team Pro Elves? Where does that name come from?
Incidentally, I play Elves too and love the Nerves of Steel. |

I call them pro elf, because then I can call all the elf teams, just that; "elf teams", and then I will be speaking of all 4 of them. |

High Elves usually develop a fast break-run-pass-run for TD style that you may like if you want a throwing team. They in fact are more a passing team than they seem. And even with AV7 in the Lions, they are a bit more durable... |

Another terms for them are 80's elves or punx 'coz of their look. |

What an appropriate term. They do look like punks. |

Historical footnote:
The Elf team was originally introduced (at the same time as the Necros and possibly Rotters) as Pro Elves. It would have been somewhere in mid-late 2002, I think. I think the idea was that they were elves who had forsaken their various cultures (Wood, Dark or High) to play bloodbowl exclusively - as mercenaries, rather than as representatives of their race.
At the time, I think the catchers had Catch and Leap instead of NoS. Blitzers might have had something different as well (Block + Dauntless, perhaps?) but I can't recall for certain. Nurgle, on the other hand, was identical to Chaos, but with 6 x 110k CWs with FA and the Beast (who started off slightly different as well, I think). The "no apoth" rule came in later, once everyone realized how lousy that roster was. |

Throwing team? Gobbos or Halflings for sure!
Passing team is a different story... Elves, High Elves or Woodies. |

Probably the most popular elf team, but the least "elfish" elf team. There are as close to bashy as elves can get.
If you genuinely want to practice your ball skills I would go Pro Elves or Woodies. If you want to ease yourself into playing elf style a bit more slowly I would go Darkies or High Elves.
But to answer you original question, Pro Elves are the best elves for a "passing game". |

Wood Elf Throwers seem to be relatively rare, so I'd go for Pro Elves...
... which I must get round to playing myself, sometime |

Pro Elves are a riot... But they're slower than woodies, and the positionals suck up spp even faster in my admittedly small experience. Still, hard to be NoS. |
