Great job Kill-Kill, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your picks.

Good pick that mwilli72 would beat me.
I would like to point out that my team, Underdeep Stalkers are dark elves and not humans as they are identified as in your write up. Smile

Yeah, when I was reading that I was wondering, but didn't get around to fixing it. Will do in the next update.

3/6 so far. Not too bad.

Waiting for the forfeits to look at round 2.

Picks: Orcland Wooden Shield 01/08

PieRatz vs. Little Madams
A Skaven vs Amazon matchup here. The Skaven have only 1 tackle player to go against 4 blodgers of the amazons. The skaven also feature 2 niggling injuries and if they do not show up, it could turn the tide as the skaven are already short handed. Overall, the amazons have the numbers, have the skills and at a low TR here, that should be enough to carry them through to victory.
Pick: 3-1 Little Madams

Da Bonkers vs. Urgraak's Mob
Two young orc teams face off in this contest and it promises to be a bashfast. Both teams are well under 125 TS, but deep in players. Neither has many skills and when that is the case, dice and RRs can be a key factor. Da Bonkers have a much lower FF, but have 3 RRs to 2. However, the Da Bonkers are a non-typical Orc team...having 3 goblins and no apothecary - perhaps the troll and goblins means TTM. However, barring a TTM TD for the Da Bonkers, the more typical solid Mob should take this one.
Pick: 2-1 Urgraak's Mob

Grindhouse vs. Blood, Threat and Fears
Two very strong teams here. Grindhouse is an 11 man undead team with both mummies having block and an ST 4 wight along with a dirty player. Blood, Threat and Fears has compiled 4 wins in 4 games with Chaos - a very impressive feat. However, this is going to be a real test for them. The chaos lack skills against a very nicely skilled Undead team. A few lucky early CAS that are not regenerated on Grindhouse positional players could give the chaos a chance...however, odds are against it.
Pick: 2-0 Grindhouse

Its Friday vs. Boneyard Bandit
Boneyard Bandit crushed the High Elves in these game. The High Elves were lucky to only lose 1 player to the rampaging Undead, but nothing went well for the High Elves in this one.
Result: 3-0 Boneyard Bandit

Lustria Guards vs. Children of Bill Brasky
The humans (Children of Bill Brasky) pounded, smashed and fouled the lizardmen back to the stone age. 6 CAS total, 3 by da boot and the humans advance easily to the next round.
Result: 2-1 Children of Bill Brasky

Guardians of the Holy Yellow vs. Parental Guidance Suggested
An undefeated Orc games in PG Suggested with very well skilled blitzers (including one ST 4) against a blockless chaos team was no conteset. The chaos had some dirty players and fouled repeatedly, but the orc armor was tough and they carried through with no damage.
Result: 2-0 PG Suggested

Scottish Claymores vs. Nehekhara Pharaons
In a very tight game, the Khermi managed to avoid the turnovers (no block on any mummies) and racked up 5 CAS to gain the numbers advantage. A mild upset sends the Norse to an early exit and the Khermi advance onward!
Result: 2-1 Nehekhara Pharaons

Sankt Pauli vs. Freaky Night Frights
Two teams with identical 1/0/2 records...one of them will get back to .500 with this game. The Sankt Pauli team is the certain underdog here. A 1 RR chaos team that lacks skills is going to struggle against the necromatic team. The niggle on the one wolf is troubling and could open a door for the chaos. However, it seems clear that the chaos are going to need some good luck to pull this one out.
Pick: 2-0 Freaky Night Frights

Round 2
(unknown vs unknown)
(unknown vs Boneyard Bandit)

Children of Bill Brasky vs. PG Suggested
The humans are well known for their fouling and have a deep team with 1 dp and overall 5 +stats out of 10 total skills. They face a dangerous but small orc team. Only 10 orc players but with 110k in the bank...they could buy a 4th black orc blocker or 2 line orcs to absorb some CAS. The Orcs will start out strong, but if it goes to OT, the humans will prevail. However, the orcs are good...perhaps good enough to pull this out.
Pick: 1-0 PG Suggested

Picks: Middenheim Challenge 01/08

Tanith First-and-Only vs. World Cup Bones
The Norse have an amazing 200k in the bank and already plenty of players. With no stars allowed and facing a Khermi team, a wizard would be an obvious choice. The block skill is good...but AV 7 against the 4 mummies will take a toll quickly. Overall, the Khermi simply have more skills and are going to be able to grind it out against the norse. The Norse lack a thrower (could easily buy one), but still, would lack any sure hands and only have 2 RRs. The wizard could help give a score to the humans...but it will not be enough.
Pick: 2-0 World Cup Bones

Terror World Wide vs. Many Faces of Ed
Terror World Wide is a solid CD team and pounded the necros hard. With a handicap to help and in the hands of a ruthless coach, a victory was easily achieved.
Result: 2-1 Terror World Wide

SnakeBelly FC vs. Chaotic Schwarzeneggers
SnakeBelly (lizardmen) have the advantage in skills here. The skinks should carry them to victory. With the chaos lacking any block or tackle, they are going to rely on getting a POW on hopefully 3d blocks. however, with both sides only have 2 RRs, the lizards have the advantage. However, the chaos have enough strength to fight the big lizards...this one is going to OT before it is decided.
Pick: 2-1(OT) SnakeBelly FC

Church of the Damned vs. Bare Knuckle!
A matchup of 11 man Chaos vs 13 norse (with 2 dp). The chaos warriers are well skilled, but the norse can take them down and foul them...if the fouls are effective, this goes to the norse. However, if the ref is sharp eyed - the strength of the chaos will prevail.
Pick: 2-1(OT) Bare Knuckle!

Killerplauzen vs. Curse of Yig
A tough Khermi team ideally skilled against an undead team. the Khermi have block on all mummies and 2 blitz-ra with sure hands. They do lack mobile tackle of course...and hunting ghouls can be tough. They also lack guard. The Undead however have the advantage there. With a niggle on a ST 4 ghoul, that could be key as the undead are short on numbers. If the Khermi had a dp or two to take advantage of a short bench of the undead...however, lacking that - the undead are the favorite.
Pick: 2-1 Curse of Yig

Gaia Lemnos vs. Central Adepts
The amazons just took it to the khermi in this one. The Lemnos girls fouled out 2 mummies in 2 turns (regen failed both times) and then took out another mummy - RIP (no regen) and the blodger blitz-ra (no regen). Essentially a one-sided mauling...the amazons collected a lot of bones in this one.
Result: 3-0 Gaia Lemnos

Uzkulak Rotten Fog vs. Generic Team
The Undead are more prepared for this matchup. With 4 ghouls in good health and the humans only tackle player missing from the game, the mobility advantage goes to the undead. A RR advantage and twice the FF, the humans have a harsh challenge here...a mummy carries a niggle as do 2 human players - assuming nothing one sided happens with the niggle rolls, the undead will win this one.
Pick: 2-0 Uzkulak Rotten Fog

Adolphus Krieger vs. G-Town Harlots
A very powerful amazon team in the G-Town Harlots with some wicked good blitzers were taken to the wire by the necromatic team...but the amazons prevailed in OT.
Result: 2-1(OT) G-Town Harlots

Okay...after some downtime...back with some picks for this months OCCS tournaments:

Reikland Rookie Cup
Overview: 13 of 16 teams have FF of 6 or more - meaning that most people have submitted teams that are looking to the future and not considering this a one-off tournament before retirement which makes it much more fun for everyone. There are a lot of good teams and coaches and with TR 100 it is extremely hard to pick - however - out of the 16 teams, I expect the following 4 teams to fight for the win:
Shawoopie!!! (RonnieT - Orcs)
All your Team are Belong to us (WardenUSA - Undead)
Blood Barbarians (Azure - Norse)
Thunderbear Berserkers (GeneralMarauder - Norse)

The pick for the winner:
All your Team are Belong to us
- WardenUSA has a fairly soft schedule with elves - which means CAS for his mummies and skills for his other positionals - while his opponents will be facing dwarves/khermi and other nasties along the way. If one of the norse teams make it to the finals in good shape, they could steal it - however, otherwise WardenUSA will walk away with the win in this tournament.

So to the 12 teams I picked to not make it to the quarterfinals...good luck proving me wrong Smile

Orcland Wooden Shield
Overview: It is interesting to note that only 3 of the 16 teams come into this tournament with winning records...a .500 or less team trying to pull off 4 straight wins is not an easy thing, but there is certainly a possibility that that is percisely what will happen here.
The four teams to make it to the quarterfinals:
Great Greenskins (GeneralMarauder - Orcs)
Punisment Meted (gabeln - Skaven)
Girls Without Mercy (Azure - Amazons)
Dead Men Risen (PistolPete - Undead)

And the pick for the winner:
Great Greenskins
- A solid orc team coached by a top flight coach should be able to win it all. One of the undead teams, bampf (plays Azure in second round) or PistolPete have a chance, but odds are the amazons will be make it to the final but be in terrible shape when they do. The Greenskins have the path of least resistance and playing 4 games at low TR, that can often be the opening needed for the victory!

Middenheim Challenge
Overview: 16 teams in this tournament as well...a real variety of teams, as the TS ranges from 76 to 156 and some interesting stories as well. Some teams are the up and coming teams like the Orca Heroes (only playing in OCCS tournament - and won rookie tournament as wood elves)...also American Standards (58 games played already for this vetern Undead team)...with a lot of stories to be played out. The four teams to reach the quarterfinals:
Orca Heroes (Gritter - Wood Elves)
Faster than the speed of light (Melmoth - Undead)
Axe of Tindalo (kraden - Chaos)
Rozzi Nordici (Gary_Gygax - Norse)

And the pick for the winner is:
Faster than the speed of light
- It is hard to pick against Gritter's Wood Elves...they have a potentially easy road to the quarterfinals with a 3 game old goblin team and then either some understrength CDs or wood elves. However, one has to respect a well balanced Undead team with good early skill rolls (several early stat bonuses). A deep, well rounded undead team can go a long way and the AV 7 teams that may come out of the other side of the bracket - either the Norse or Afro's Amazons (if they upset the Norse) are going to probably be struggling to field a full team. This is an ideal draw for the Undead here and the pick is for them to capitalize and win it all!

World-Edge Mountains Ogre-Ade 2008
Overview: A varied field of 16 teams have shown up for this major...of them include 4 teams with 45 or more points already accumlated through half a year of OCCS competition and this could catapult one of the teams into prime position for taking home the award for the best OCCS team for 2008. While the competition will be fierce, the following 4 teams will get through to the quarterfinals:
Restless Pirates (Azure - Humans)
Pransing Panzies (bampf - Pro Elf)
Touring Teethbashers (GeneralMarauder - Chaos Dwarves)
Disposable Teens (Gritter - Necro)

And the pick for the winner:
Touring Teethbashers
- A really tough one to pick as there are a lot of very good teams among the 16. Gritter is an excellent possibilty, but he faces Lucky Eddy (another great necro team) and if he does make it past the Touring Teethbashers, he would be too injuried to win the finals most likely. Bampf will likely make it to the finals - hard to see his team losing - and perhaps it would be a safer bet to pick him for the championship - but if he wins...he will earn it...4 very tough games for his elves! Looks to be a close fought competition!

Albion Regional Challenge
Overview: Only 8 teams in the competition...but they make up for the lack of numbers with exceptional quality. 3 teams have winning percentages of 74% or better - with bampf's Skaven having a 14/1/1 record. In addition there is Gus's Khermi averaging over 5.5 CAS a game - but still having almost .500 record. Deathly dangerous teams in addition to teams of high pedigree.
The two teams competiting in the finals:
Our Private War (Azure - Dark Elves)
Pestilence Brothers (brain01 - Chaos)

And the winner will be:
Pestilence Brothers
- This is a real hard one to predict. The only reason to pick Our Private War to the finals is because bampf's skaven are limping right now and either will lose to Gus' teamkilling Khermi or will win, but be too hurt to move on to the finals. However, the Dark Elves are too weak of a team without depth to win 3 straight games, so have to pick against them in the finals by default really Smile

OCCS Amorical Regional Playoffs
Overviews: Of the five previous Amorical Regional playoffs, Asher's Hobgoblins haved competed in 4 of them...made it to the finals each time and won 3 of the 4...they are back - but face their hardest test in the very first round...can they return to their winning ways, or will a new champion rise up?
The finaliest:
Gygaxes (Gary_Gygax - Orcs)
Smashy Dodgers (Gritter - Lizardmen)

And the winner:
Gygaxes
- It should be the Gygaxes or Asher's Hobgoblins...the winner of that game has a beat up chaos team in the semi-finals and then most likely a lizardman team that has to go through a real hard two games to make the final. Last time the Gygaxes and the Hobgoblins fought, it was very close and went to the Hobgoblins - the guess is that it will balance out and the Gygaxes go all the way for the win!

That is all for the picks for this month. Good luck to all the teams and have fun gloating when you upset someone I picked to defeat your team Very Happy

Thanks for the boost Azure!

Edit #1:
Skaven? You picked skaven to win my group for the 125 group? You must be crazy! my orcs are going to crush the little guys

An update on the picks and status of the OCCS games...

Reikland Rookie Cup
Predictions for quarterfinals:
1. Shawoopie!!! (RonnieT - Orcs)
- Reached by means of a costly victory and a forfeit. They have a dead BOB and missing BOB for the quarterfinal match.
2. All your Team are Belong to us (WardenUSA - Undead)
- Lost to Conchords (valenswift - Woodelves) but did retire on wood elf and 2 more are missing. A very disappointing loss however.
3. Blood Barbarians (Azure - Norse)
- A forfeit in the first round and then a bloody victory (as the cost of a dead lineman) over some orcs put them into the quarterfinals.
4. Thunderbear Berserkers (GeneralMarauder - Norse)
- A disappointing loss to some amazons halted their run unexpectedly early.

The pick for the winner:
All your Team are Belong to us
- Obviously incorrect as they failed to make it out of the second round. Blood Barbarians are in the final after defeating the amazons and await the winner between the wood elves and orcs.

Orcland Wooden Shield
Predictions for quarterfinals:
1. Great Greenskins (GeneralMarauder - Orcs)
- Knocked out in the second round by Isengard Desolates (Pirog - Orcs). However, "knocked out" barely describes it...as the Great Greenskins were forced into retirement!
2. Punisment Meted (gabeln - Skaven)
- They won over wood elves and orcs to make it to the quarterfinals - although they also would get blown out by Isengard Desolates to final to reach the finals.
3. Girls Without Mercy (Azure - Amazons)
- Two extremely uninspiring 1-0 wins over Dark Elves and Undead got the Girls to the quarterfinals, although their play did not inspire any confidence in their coach...although the 4-0 crushing of dwarves in the quarterfinals to reach the final game was much better!
4. Dead Men Risen (PistolPete - Undead)
- Taken down by some dwarves in an unlucky match..the dwarves caused some injuries and made the rolls they needed to take out the Undead.

And the pick for the winner:
Great Greenskins
- 0 for 2 so far on picking the winners. Now it is down to the Amazons or the Orcs in the finals...and it is hard to pick against the Orcs after they already upset the team I had picked to win!

Middenheim Challenge
Predictions for quarterfinals:
1. Orca Heroes (Gritter - Wood Elves)
- A win and forfeit and the undefeated wood elves charge on! They do carry 3 niggles now however...and they are set up to play Lucky Eddy's Chaos in the quarterfinals.
2. Faster than the speed of light (Melmoth - Undead)
- The only team to fail of my picks...a hard fought match ended poorly against 80's Twilight Zone! (Lucky_Eddy - Chaos). The Zone now has a chance to upset the unbeaten wood elves.
3. Axe of Tindalo (kraden - Chaos)
- Extremely well done so far as they streaked to the finals defeating 3 solid teams and avoiding major injuries (even against Gus!). They are positioned well to take home the trophy now!
4. Rozzi Nordici (Gary_Gygax - Norse)
- Two wins got them to the quarterfinals, but they ran into a tough Chaos team that was not as injured as they hoped and managed to drag them down. However, still an excellent showing.

And the pick for the winner was:
Faster than the speed of light
- 0 for 3 now on picking the winners...bummer. Axe of Tindalo has made it to the finals now and has avoided major damage - so they are the odds on favorites now to finish off with the trophy!

World-Edge Mountains Ogre-Ade 2008
Picks for the quarterfinals:
1. Restless Pirates (Azure - Humans)
- Still up in the air, as their second round opponent is having trouble finding the time to play...being a major the deadlines are longer...but odds are good that they will advance.
2. Pransing Panzies (bampf - Pro Elf)
- A solid pair of victories has them cruising into the quarterfinals...although not without losing 3 linemen in the process...no one critical, but their bench is shortened and that could prove critical.
3. Touring Teethbashers (GeneralMarauder - Chaos Dwarves)
- They simply crushed their opponents on the field, but it was *tough* for them to pull out the victories, they got to the quarterfinals, leaving 2 beat up teams behind them...although they would lose on coin flip and not reach the finals!
4. Disposable Teens (Gritter - Necro)
- Oh the horror! A round 1 loss! Poor pick, as they lose to a team that loses to the team that gets to the finals from this half of the bracket. Extremely well played by Lucky Eddy again! The second time he has taken a team I picked against and advanced far!

And the pick for the winner:
Touring Teethbashers
- Bah, 0 for 4 on picks. I did mention that Tails of the Crypt - League (Lucky Eddy - Necro) was a good team, and indeed they have proven it as they advance to the finals...and likely will face Humans or Pro Elves...it looks good for Lucky Eddy to claim this trophy!

Albion Regional Challenge
The picks for the finals:
1. Our Private War (Azure - Dark Elves)
- Won first round game...
2. Pestilence Brothers (brain01 - Chaos)
- Won first round game...

And the winner will be:
Pestilence Brothers
- At least I am not wrong (yet!) They survived the first round...two more rounds to go!

OCCS Amorical Regional Playoffs
Picks for the finaliest:
1. Gygaxes (Gary_Gygax - Orcs)
- Nope. Upset by Asher's Hobgoblins (not sure if it should be called an upset). It was a tight game between two great teams - and again it went to the CDs.
2. Smashy Dodgers (Gritter - Lizardmen)
- Won the first round...still alive!

And the winner:
Gygaxes
- Bah, 0 for 5 on picking winners with 1 still out there...It could be Asher's Hobgoblins now - winning this tournament would be the 4th time out of 5 tries this year...

I've always enjoyed reading predictions of games so here goes:
Predictions of an Iffy Coach

Bloodweiser Cup 1st Round pt. 1

Little Red Riding Hoods (12/2/8 ) vs. SJ’S Revenge (11/6/15)
190/185 VS/ 192/179
Personal experience: Minimal----lost to both coaches 1 time.
First time matchup of coaches.

Strengths:
The Hoods seem to be a well-balanced team skills-wise. They do not score often but would seem to keep the other team well away from scoring and have a slightly higher Cas ratio. My guess would be that chooxter plays solid D with these guys and wins more of a 1-0 type game.
SJ’s Revenge would seem to built as a Cas-first type team based on the amount of block and minimal amount of hobgobs. They have been outscored and outbashed historically but have been far more bashy of late.

Weaknesses:
Both teams are limited in +MA players so if removed from the game could turn this into a slugfest. The Hoods are missing a blodge wolf which would be a big plus.

Prediction:
I think this will be a tight game that could swing either way. If SJ’s can contain the high MA players of the Hoods, they could outhit them and gain the advantage. The Hoods have the skill set to keep SJ’s at bay long enough for a quick score and force SJ’s to play faster drives. In my novice opinion I would go with:

Little Red Riding Hoods 2---------------SJ’s Revenge 1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chaotic Drunken Dwarves (16/0/1) vs. Superdeadz (14/6/7)
195/199 vs. 184/191
Personal experience: 0/1/1 against both coaches. Played strong despite terrible luck in loss to Dwarves with Necro. Lucked my way to a tie against Superdeadz with Khem, lost a bashy game to them with same Necro.
Coach matchup: even--------2/0/2

Strengths:
The Dwarves are a very mobile team with highly skilled CD’s. There overall stats suggest a very well run team on both offense and defense with dominating numbers against other teams in Tds and Cas. Bill is a very good CD coach so I would expext a great game from him. Brain’s Superdeadz are a very intimidating team built for ultimate team destruction. 3 DP’s suggest a strong “ground” game. His team mixes their bashing strategy up to suit their cause and has been very successful. Don’t forgot the ultra-skilled Thro-Ra and a +AG skellie.

Weaknesses:
Superdeadz are a typically slow khemri team so in theory could be boxed off and outrun. 2 of the mummies are new and unskilled. The Dwarves don’t match up on pure STR so will have to utilize guard to its max. Also a large number of hobgobs that will surely fall at the feet of the DP’s at some point. Dwarves are giving a handicap away as well.

Prediction:
Another tight game between two excellent coaches. If brain controls the LoS this game could fall in his favor but the Dwarves are a very successful team and have experience against bashers. I believe the mummies will stuff the CD’s on the line so I will go out on a limb and go with:
Superdeadz 1------------Chaotic Drunken Dwarves 0

Tell me what you think of my reviews! Hopefully they aren't completely off. Pt. 2 will come soon.
