I disagree.
I would argue the ability to pick your matches in Ranked acts as a sanity check that ensures teams are built to play the game rather than game the game. Box allows you to abuse the rule set beyond what it was designed/intended for, while ranked is a large peer rating system that checks and balances teams.
We all know the answer is League and Stunty, but after that, yes, Ranked is where it's at. |

"we" have fallen so low that we cant even get a decent CPOMB thread in Ranked.
Have we all just thrown up are arms in disgust, kick the dirt and just move on? Where is the passion? the outrage? the "fire"?
Or is it that deep down every one just knows Rank play is a better overall "experience" for open play Blood Bowl?

Maybe it's like being a patron at a porno theater (back when that was a viable business). Nobody wants to admit they are there, let alone look around, look another patron in the eye, and discuss why they are there. Each just goes about cherry picking and leaves the others to the same=)
In all seriousness, Box players are probably less casual than R players. Being more uptight about the gaming experience because they are more emotionally invested in it, they complain more if it isn't "just right." |
So from your "experience" , as a ranked player you felt you were more invested than now as a box clawpomb minmaxer? |

I'm a Ranker, but the reason for this is one of personal practicality.
I know myself. If I start playing a bunch of box teams, my life will vanish. I have obligations, a baby, a job, etc. I can't afford to be sucked in, and playing non-stop will do that. So I shy away from it.
In Ranked, though, it is the opposite. Lately it is taking so long to get matches. I only get offers that tend to be pretty unfair (100+ TV up cpombers vs 11 beat up orcs) or are from people who don't know much better. It is very rare that I get a competitive offer (though Jesterius did offer me a game the other day that was a fair one, probably the only time I can remember in the last few weeks).
I frequently challenge 100+,200+TV up just to try and get games and rarely get a response. Sometimes I just blanket the list (click click click click... I wish there was a button for 'offer all') and usually am left hanging.
Since my necros acquired a cpomber wolf, it seems to take about hours to get a game. |

that is what happens to your team when you show mercy for a Ranker who cant get a match.

Scary to say, but I think Cyanide had it right when they set up for arranged matches to not count for ranking purposes. Scheduler is the real test. |

I found that there were two types of people that would accept games against me, other high CR coaches and utter newbs.
I had both good and bad experiences...generally, accepting what I considered reasonable games that my opponent would play, I'd get:
newb newb newb, legend, newb, newb, newb, legend.
On the flip side, in the box, I tend to get:
vet, vet, vet, newb, vet, vet, vet, vet, vet, newb, vet,vet

There you go!.
(just kidding... I totally diced him,but he's a great opponent to play against. You find the measure of an opponent not when they are winning, but being diced off the pitch...) |

I disagree, in Ranked Amazon teams don't play against Dwarfs, bad match ups are avoided.
In Box you can't avoid the bad match ups and this makes Box the most competitive division.
Also, Bash team in Ranked are generally lighter than in Box, because people can avoid to play them. |

Indeed, that was a more-than-fair offer (which I leapt at) and it is the exception. I had forgotten about it.
I regularly challenge up like that with my undead and necro teams. Not got an elf team to do so with atm though. |

And people abuse the fact that you can not refuse games in B... So what is your point? |

My point is that B works in 2 ways, i.e. you can't refuse games in B, so if you are a TV minmax abuser sometimes you meet a bad match up against another TV minmax abuser that you can't avoid, while in Ranked you can ever refuse bad match ups. |

No, it's less flawed, actually. I suspect that many high CR Ranked coaches would have a lesser CR if they played only in the Box. |
