Not that this is important, and I know pretty whiney  but pretty lame that people who didn't play first round, immediately get more points than half the people who played, with those people's picks. Shouldn't that be half the people's picks points? |

It isnt stated, but for the above scores too make sense there is also a 5 point bonus for getting the perfect card, and as well as 5 points each per speculation bet, there must be 5 points for getting 'all/both' speculation bets right, else kondor would be on 24, not 29. |

For the scoring to make sense it does require the skill of reading. 
So, if you pick all 5 picks correct you will be rewarded 15 pts. The speculation bets (bonus) points is where the deviation is. It changes every round.
** Speculation Bets Round #1 **
1: How many TDS will be scored in total of the 10 matches? (10 points)<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
2: How many games will go into OT? (5 points)<<<<<<<<
Pick the perfect card and get 5pts <<<<<<<<<<<<
take note of the chevrons. 
Round #2 Speculation Bets Round #2
#1 Will there be more than 40.5 fouls thrown in total this round? (5pts) Yes or No <<<<<<<
#2 Will there be more than 4.5 players KILLED this round (5pts) Yes or No <<<<<<<<<<<<<

So, for round #1 the max points you could earn was 35
Round #2 it is 30.
Round #2 does NOT have the perfect card bonus.
every round is going to have any where from 15-20 bonus points a round BUT that is totally based on the spec bets I throw out each round.
Last round Kondor received the following score:
14 points from picks...he missed his one point pick.
He got 10 points from Spec bet #1 the exact number of TD
He got 5 points from Spec bet #2 for number of OT matches.
He missed out on the 5pt perfect card.
Got it? good.

The "Peoples" picks is a device to allow coaches who miss a round to still be awarded points in the challenge. Its main purpose is to keep the challenge actually going.
Lets be honest....if you miss a round of picks and get 0 points is there any reason to keep making picks?
You can only use the "peoples" picks 2 times over the 7 rounds so coaches who just give up...well they will be DQ after a very short time.
I do not want to make the challenge where if you missed the first round there is no reason to play. OVer the course of the FC the coaches who want to play along in the challenge will all be on even footing. After 5 rounds the vast majority of coaches who do not care about this will just fade away.
Hope that helps on why I have the "peoples picks" going on. |

On the flip side the "People" some times have no clue and blow a round with 8 points and that gets every one worked up.
It has happened over the years.  |
