Oh my Gods, small and omnipotent, and dear heaven.
We just found out, that we are not in Sto Lat, but this place is called Pseudopolis! By the way, abroad is abroad, no matter what it is called.

Divisional Rundown

Sto Lat Division has moved the fastest, with as many games played here as in both other divisions together. This means a slightly clearer picture of the division can be produced; with the Überwald team Bums' Ehrengarde and the Horsemen of the Apocralypse already scheduled for a fith-round game that will likely decide the champions.

Wiches Abroad are currently leading in Pseudopolis, though the field here is still quite open. But with their next opponent the under-strength Guild Of Fans And Disciples, bloodied by a murderous encounter with the Crankshaft Instability Distributor fielded by the philosophers of Ephebe Rhinos, might the coven be able to win themselves an unassailable lead?

The pattern is repeated in Quirm, only here it is the educated rodents of the Trap Disposal Squad who hold the advantage over the other teams in the division. But with several full-strength squads before them, will the rodents be able to hold out for the season?

League Commissioner and President of the Blood Bowl Guild, C.M.O.T. Dibbler, has been pleased to announce that the average number of fans of each team has generally increased across the league. He suggested that this shows that the Discworld is taking to the sport well and, more importantly, that there will be more customers for any official merchandise - such as official Old Vincent loincloths, now available for only AM$ 5, and that's practically cutting his own throat...

Wolfgang were sure that his team would win against the senile opponents, but the Mighty Silver Horde totally destroyed the überwald team. Twoflower was very exited about all the genuine folklore while Rincewind tried to escape the battle, accidentally with the ball in his hands and right in the endzone for one of the three TDs that ended the hopes of Wolfgang to reach the 3rd place.
During the last 2 games, 5 reg rolls failed; maybe the two igors are too anxious about improving their teammates.
GG Grin and gratz to your 2nd place finish

Edit: im tired and therefore my english is terrible, im sorry for that

well it looks like DEATH made a big mistake hiring the Librarian for their final round clash.
Faust and his necromantic horde must have fallen off the edge of the discworld.

Oh well roll on the 8 a side competition.
does this mean having to retire players we wonder?

Nope; it's just going to have 8 players per team 'in play' for any particular drive; the other three that have to be on the pitch will be lined up on middle of the endzone and aren't allowed to either do anything, or to have anything done to them during the drive. This is unless they accidently end up with the ball via a skewed kick, in which case they HAVE to throw/hand off the ball off to an active player as the first 'dice-rolling' action of the team's turn, and then go back to their exile on the endzone.

As a sidenote; I've already planning on dropping two of our most inactive inactives (Joncross & Clementus) to make room for Hellvis and Avien in this tournament.

And if anyone else would like to enter the D.I.B.B.L. then now might be a good time to do so...

@Gordreg: Some questions rising up: So in the 8-A-Side-Tourney, what happens on a CAS or KO to the playing. Is it allowed to join with a EndZone-Player on a KO? Or just the 8 for whole drive?

And I think it should be allowed (better an obligation) to move the Endzoners up and down, when a ball carrier or the ball comes near, so that they are obstacles and don't lie TZs on the ball.

Second: Does only the winner of each Interesting-Times-Group join the final tourney or also the second placed?

@KenThis: Is there already a time scheduled for your game? I would like to know who wins the group! Wink

sorry grin
faust hasn't accessed the website in almost 3 weeks.
so unless he comes on tonight it looks like he will forfeit.
it's a shame really
but i am very much looking forward to the next stage.
i stupidly played all my games as quickly as i could so have been waiting a month to get another dibbl game in
for the 8 a side i'm going to try and ration my games out a little more so i get a more constant fix.

What is this nonsense? Eight players per team is highly irrational and seems to have no logical explanation.

The so called "eight colours of magic" were discarded by all but the most unreasonable philosophers over fifty years ago. Glaucons famous four colour proposition clearly disproves the existance of more than four colour. Even if you were to consider light and dark as colours (which is a highly dubious assertion) then that would still leave you with a maximum of six. Octarine could be argued to be a seventh colour but thats really stretching things - octarine is really just a very concentrated area of magic which slows down dark particles enough that the light particles catch them.

Glaucons four colour proposition (modern interpretation):

1) We can percieve the world in lots of different ways, one of these is sight. This is clearly something universal to all able bodied creatures (unless they are lying [1]).
2) We can see lots of different colours and shades.
3) Any object can be made to appear brighter if a candle is moved towards it or darker if a candle is moved away.
4) Therefore particles of light give colour its brightness and particles of dark stop us from being able to see everything. [2]
5) The rest of the world must therefore be a series of colours. These colours are absolute because the sky never turns orange overnight.
6) The world is topologically equivalent to the inside of a sphere. You can tell this because if you go round and round and round its the same every time.
7) The chromatic number of the inside of a sphere is four [3].
Cool Creators are lazy. Therefore they would use the least number of colours possible [4].
9) A colour is considered to be distinct if its different from all the other colours next to it.
10) We've already proved that every colour has a maximum of three other distinct colours next to it.
11) Therefore there can only be four distinct colours. Any other colours must be the result of mixing the other colours into patterns, mix two different colours of paint and see what happens.
12) Obviously theres only so many ways you can arrange them without the pattern looking very much (but not exactly) like another basic pattern. This is why there are lots of shades but you dont get yollwy-blue or greenish-red colours.

[1] Didactylos makes reference to this possibility in his scroll "Deceit, misperception, and the bloody pointlessness of arguing about it".
[2] Read the works of both Bislet and Histocrene for a detailed discussion of light, dark, and which is faster.
[3] The chromatic number refers to the number of different colours you would need if you drew a map on the surface, coloured in all of the different regions so that no adjacent regions are the same colour, but wanted to use the least number of colours possible.
[4] This is not fundamental to the argument but it does reinforce it very strongly.

Cohen responses to the old philosopher:

"There is only one color, and this is the color of blood!!! But there should be as many victims on the pitch as possible, so 8 is better then 4 and worse then 20. Now come and get it done!"

The first season ended yesterday for the most part, with the exception of a game between Pseudopolis City Watch and the Lancre Reclamation Squad that the coaches managed to miss despite trying, and so the matches still to play in Quirm have beem granted an eleventh-hour extension until midnight on Monday.

However, the end of season elsewere was not without controversy -The Guild of Accountants were called in to unravel an error in Sto Lat that mistakenly lists the Kings of the Golden River as champions when in fact they only finished third. The True Champions of Sto Lat, Horsemen of the Apocralypse, and the runners up of Mighty Silver Horde have both recieved places for the Discworld Cup - Harry King's boys have received only the contents of Sto Lat Stadium's lavatories.

Perhaps due to the collapse and dismissal of both the Wee Free Men and Viper House Rules, the results of Pseudopolis conference were far easier to process and went without a hitch. Wiches Abroad easily won themselves the Championship and Cup places through three victories and two forfeits, and second place was won by the deadly philosophers of the Ephebe Rhinos.

Last minuite extensions mean that Quirm conference is as yet uncompleted, but at least one place has already been decided - The Educated Rodents of the Trap Disposal Squad are already Champions. Second place is not quite decided yet, with the Commandos of Koom Valley still listed to play - and as they beat the Black Ribbons head to head, going equal in points with the Vampires means a victory for the Dwarves.

League Chairman and President of the Blood Bowl Guild, C.M.O.T. Dibbler, has given an end of season reminder that, due to the delay in Quirm, the start of 'The Colour of Magic' has been postponed until Midnight on Monday. He deeply regrets any inconvenience, and moreso the merchandising loss of having to edit the season dates on a whole gross of official DIBBL collector's mugs.

Director of Sport William Webellies has also given an end of season reminder that coaches who don\'t play their games without explanation to the league staff will be 'removed', perhaps with the assistance of some fine and upstanding society gentlemen he happens to be aquainted with. He would also like to welcome both the Trolls Orgnized Foh Peace and the Uberwald Counts to the League, and hopes they will do better... and extends an open invitation to any other Discworlders who might be interested in the competition.

Interesting Times is ended for the season as all the fans are required to begin the cabbage Harvest, and the Blood Bowl teams have travelled back across the Sto plains to Ankh-Morpork for the second contest of the season. The Octarine open is played in the Great Octarine Sports Arena of the Unseen University; a building that only rarely gets any visits from the Wizards (and most of these leave hurridly after claiming to be looking for the experiment in the squash court).

Though the roof is open to the sky the weather inside the court always occurs three months later, the walls and stands are painted a vivid Octarine, and the stadium is planted with re-annual Octarine Grass that will be taken as seed from the Octarine Grass Country and planted sometime next year. This produces a spectacular visual effect to all of the Wizards and Cats who are able to see the colour, and to everyone else gives them the impression the whole place could do with a tidy-up and a lick of fresh paint.

The Wizards call the Blood Bowl Tournament they arranged to be played here the Octarine Open; almost everyone else is unable to see the colour, much less spell it, and therefore the Tournament is known to fans as 'The Colour of Magic', though not always with that spelling.

Colour of Magic is Played to 8-a-side rules - Only 8 players from each team are able to be placed active upon the field during each drive, with three more placed inactive upon the central three squares of the player's end zone. These players are inactive and cannot take any actions, or be blocked/blitzed by an opponent with the following exceptions:

If the inactive player finds himself with the ball he must PASS it or HAND IT OFF, provided the team has not suffered a turnover earlier that would prevent this, and that the player does not move.

In the case that these players hold the ball the opponent may Block/Blitz ANY of them, possibly inducing a crowd surf. Note however - the ball CANNOT be purposely passed to these players!

If a member of the 8 man active team is injured (KO, CAS etc) and unable to take place in a drive then they CANNOT be replaced with an inactive player until the end of the drive. Once the next drive starts, they may be set up as an active player as normal, provided the limit of 8 is still maintained.

Stars and Wizards MAY be hired for 8-a-side within the framework of the Standard D.I.B.B.L. rules on Stars and Wizards.

Edit: Since I''ve just realised that I forgot to say in the message last night, the Colour of Magic's First round Deadline is the 23rd of July. However, since only a single match is scheduled in the first tournment round (Nac Mac Feegles BBC vs Ephebe Rhinos), games in the second round will be given a slightly shorter deadline of the 30th of July. Barring family tradgedies and major international incidents, I'd hope that we can still get every one of the games played!
