The random matchups each round could be a re-draw...as if the tourney got restarted. Just to flow with the natural B status :0

Or each team could be given a random number for the next round 1-16 if 32 teams...1-8 if 16 teams etc.

I for one actually like the one-draw system. More like a regular knock-out tournament.
Just happy I get to use my B team for it!

if people really like the idea of redrawing every round - perhaps thats something to consider for differentiation between the three [B] majors in future.

I see what you're saying. This has been considered but has been ruled out for now for two reasons:
- it gives people less time to complete their games which means more forfeits
- its not currently supported by the website

While it's mentioned I'd like to throw my vote for special prizes. It's both in the spirit of the game and fun. It's just ridicilous to say that these few players among thousands will have unbalancing effects on the division. They are also sure to be killed soon enough.

I think we need to define our terms. I am against non-LRB compliant prizes such as Temple Guards, or Beasts of Nurgle on Dwarfs.

But this does not rule out Healing Potions or "Raise the Dead Scrolls" (as long as the team is still roster compliant). It also doesn't rule out random Stat increases or other such prizes.

Random mutations on players I am against, but usually has such a minimal effect that it really isn't worth getting worked up about.

I guess I just think a Dwarf team should still basically be a Dwarf team, regardless of the win. It simply should not be fundamentally changed. And I think that is the opinion of most of the people that are against it.

Frankly, I don't think you should need a shiny toy at the end. But I see that many disagree.

You dont need one at all.... but its a pretty fun addition and usually adds a bit of excitement to the boring (spectator wise) end of the tournament. Plus of course the FUMBBL majors prizes aent nearly as broken as the ones in the rulebook. I'd be very careful about demanding anything that is LRB Wink

Hmm. oh dear Calcium it appears that i too am a nerd, although even i would never stoop as low as to introduce another orc team to the box. I think it is about time we all fought our green oppressors and embraced the glory that is the love of a lesser race.

Let's try and get some necros to win the first box tournement \o/

Well, I don't need it so I guess I just don't see it. And pointing to the silly prizes in the optional section of the Blood Bowl rule book doesn't make the ranked prizes any less silly (some of them, anyway).

Are we still going about the "prizes"?...This topic has now jumped about 5 discussions.

The optional section? I don't see anywhere in the rulebook where the tournament rules are refered to as more optional than any other rule (like gfi or fouling). Bloodbowl is a pretty silly game if you havent noticed. I'm not saying that prices have to be special players but I think it's a lot more fun to get mutations, cheaper wizard, extra mvp:s (those are from the rulebook) or something else like a magic helmet or whatever. Extra cash feels very meh for winning a big tournament.

An immense improvement in my humble opinion!

I started playing Blackbox again immediately after reading about this.

The Bettering Blackbox thread has also been updated accordingly.

I thought it would be cool to win a completely random player selected from every possible position at every roster, that appears on your team with 7 completely random skills/traits/racials. The only catch is the player will only play for you team for 10 matches, after which they will automatically retire.
