A violent storm was raging over the ocean, beating up huge wave, darkening the sky, promising the apocalypse. John "Circ" Ciracullo, chief on this forsaken artificial island in the middle of nowhere, was frowning over the latest radio message from the headquaters: 'The have been intelligence reports that speak of an unknown number of terrorist sleepers in your crew. With last night`s assault on the Arabic Emirates, there is a high chance of terrorist counteraction. Replacement crew is coming in with the next supply. OVER.'
The next supply... it was due to in a little more than two week. A long time out on the ocean... alot of things can happen...
Never did he hear the faint footsteps approaching, their sound drowned by the crashing of the waves in the boiling sea... the heavy wrench cracked his skull and killed him in an instant.
Welcome to the Oil Rig. As in other games, there is a set small group of bad guys hiding among the rest. The staff of the oilrig will probably consist of:
- 15 regular workers
- 5 bad guys
You realize, that the number of bad guys is higher than usual. That is because their power to kill at night will work abit differently.
During the day, there will be a standard vote. As usual, write bold who you vote for and unvote before you cast a new vote. On a tie, there will be a multi kill, if the tieing persons have recieved more than 1 vote. On a tie with only 1 vote each, nothing happens. You may vote 'no kill'.
Each night, there are several workers, that have to staff the vital positions on the rig:
- Communications
- Radar
- Drill control
- Pumps
- Oil tanks
- Generators
- Gasextraction
The rest of the crew usually gathers in the small common room that contains the TV and the bar. When the kill happens, the big elevator that conncets the bar and common rooms to the rest of the rig is locked down and everyone can see who is in the bar and who is not. Obviously the bar is too crowded to strike for the badguys. Still there might be a few reasons, to skip the cozy TV-night with your buddies...
The game starts with a kill - when the chief of the plattform is killed. There will be at least one terrorist among the working shift that night.
Everyone can take actions, based on what they are:
On Duty
A Good guy that has to staff his post has 3 options available to him:
1) Do his duty
He will stay at his post all night and work as he should.
2) Go and investigate
He moves around visiting up to two of the other stations and checks if they are manned as they should be. His own post will appear vacant should someone else check
3) Hide
He will hide from every other person. His post will appear vacant, but he is harder to kill (will reduce the kill-chance of badguys by 75% if he is the target).
Off Duty
A good guy that isn`t sheduled for night shift has 2 options:
1) Visit the bar.
Safe and cozy, sip a beer, chat with others, watch TV.
2) Go and investigate
He moves around visiting up to two of the other stations and checks if they are manned as they should be. Other visitors of the bar will notice his absence.
Sleepers
A bad guys has 3 options:
1) Do his duty / Visit the bar
Just as the goodies, a terrorist can act normal.
2) Go and investigate
He moves around visiting up to two of the other stations and checks if they are manned as they should be. Depending if he is on duty or not, his post will either be vacant OR his absence will be noted.
3) Move in for the kill
He can target an innocent. Due to the fact that all men on an oil rig are tough bastards and potentially dangerous opponents and that a sleeper rather remains hidden than to kill at the expense of being exposed, the chance of killing unnoticed are rather slim. A lone killer has only a 25% chance of killing his prey. This chance increases by 50% for each other bad guy targeting the same person. This leads to the following probabilities:
1 attacker - 25% - 0% if hidden
2 attacker - 75% - 0% if hidden
3 attacker - 125% - 50% if hidden
4 attacker - 175% - 100% if hidden
5 attacker - 225% - 150% if hidden
Of course, when moving in for the kill, the post will apear vacant if checked OR they will be recognized as absent from the bar.
Any badguy involved in a successful kill, will gain +10% chance for future kills as he get familiar with killing people and murder on an oilrig.
These powers will mean, that EACH player can take actions during the night and can send me a PM stating what they will do. If I do NOT recieve a PM, 1) will be the default action. I will PM back the result of their action - it is their choice to share the info with the others or not.
There will be some additional powers depending on the player number and ration of goodies/baddies.
OK.. I`m sure there will be questions... so fire them away and don`t forget to sign up!
Deadlines
23:00 bbtime for the votes and the PM with the night action.

Partly question, partly bump
Q: can the bad guy team target more than one innocent per night? Getting a theoretical (0,25*0,25*etc) chance of killing 5 workers in one night? |

Downblitz: Yes they can. Even though they would all be missing from the bar and it would be pretty obvious, who belongs to the bad guys. |

Question: does an unsuccessful kill attempt automatically identify the attacker(s) to the target? What about if the target was hidden? |
