Heya, has anybody tried playing Fumbbl with a surf stick (or using their phone as hotspot or whatever)? Does it work?

I tried once on a Microsoft Surface 2
It worked, but OMG was I laggy beyond all imagination

I believe it can be done as you're asking, but it probably shouldn't be done

Hmkay I feared as much. Did you check how much data volume the game ate up?

Tried speccing on the mobile hotspot thingie yesterday and that worked well, only had one disconnect and the data volume was tiny. Might give it a try with playing.

Guess it depends on the phone connection. I have played a couple games over my cellphoneconnection. Can be a bit laggy and 2-3 disconnects, but is playable

Yeah I've got LTE where I'm staying so that should be reasonable.

another datapoint:
I've played a few times on my laptop with my mobile phone as a hotspot...even with not perfect connection I was able to play reasonable well - a bit slower than normal but not really laggy.
The datavolume used during a game is really tiny compared to any "normal" browsing (it's just text, any webside with images produces more traffic)

There were problems with playing over mobile internet though: some providers used compression methods that would break the datapackages for our client - but I think that is a thing of the past in all (or most?) mobile networks

Works fine in the UK on Vodafone using phone as hotspot for the laptop but I had 4g so not sure with lower signal
