In half 1 turn 6 of my last game (https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3800560) I did a TTM with a fling. He bounced off one guy and landed on the ball. He suffered a cas and the ball scattered into an open space.

I also suffered a turnover.

I thought the rule was it's only a turnover if the person who's thrown crash lands AND they were holding the ball?

Bit annoying as opponent then picks up the ball and scores!

Yeah, that's a known bug. Also caused by landing directly on the ball or pushing a prone player on to the ball. See https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=bugs&op=view&id=2112

Ah, cheers. The other two TDs we conceded were legit so not a huge problem!
