5vs5 Grand Tournament Opening Round

http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1327237

This match pitted my Wood Elf 5v5 Druids against the Chaos squad Pentacle. Pentacle played well, but a combination of a few bad turnovers, a surprising lack of injuries, the Druids' ability to dodge away almost without fail from tacklers, and the power of strip ball, allowed the Druids to carry the day and win the game. Pentacle got some revenge, however, when they killed star Druid wardancer Merlin II and the apothecary failed to prevent his death.

As a result, the Druids, who won the match 3-1, moved on to the quarterfinal round, where they would face, to their chagrin, either a chaos dwarf team or an orc team. Their coach (me) predicted a dire fate awaited them.

5 vs 5 Grand Tournament Quarterfinal Match

http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=1327362

This match-up pitted the surprisingly hardy 5v5 Druids (wood elves) against a mean and nasty-looking orc squad, the Wannabe Hulks, who had effectively dismembered a chaos dwarf team in their first-round match. This led the Druids' coach to believe that it was his turn for a drubbing and a bloody end to their tournament hopes.

Against those odds (and against this coach's expectations), however, the Druids showed the same plucky resolve as they have had in previous matches against bash-tastic teams and combined a remarkable ability to dodge away from all the tacklers with a stubborn refusal to get injured, and overcame the buzzing handicap to boot to win the game 3-1 (it must be said that when you have 3 or 4 elf players on the pitch, period, buzzing is not a very good handicap result to get).

The Hulks did manage to do some damage to the team (most notably the early exit of new wardancer Merlin III, but it was all badly hurt results, so the Druids are looking forward to their semi-final match with a full, uninjured roster and a strength upgrade on a line-elf, to boot! This does not, however, decrease the coach's fears that their next match may prove fatal to the team, both in terms of their championship hopes and in a more literal sense.

What a game!

I was one of the five spectators (throwing rocks Wink and this match did not dissapoint.

The first three kicks saw rocks flung, all at the 5vs5 Druids and all stuns Laughing
Turn 7 saw Merlin lll get stomped on by Ambiguously Dressed Hulk, smashing the squishy little war dancer into the BH box.
Half time score 1-0 to the woodies
Turn 2 of the second half the woodies got some payback Twisted Evil KOing Fearsome Hulk, pinchin the ball and going on to score.
Each team scored once more leaving a final score of 3-1 to the woodies

MORE MORE MORE games like this please folks!!!
Wink

I just wanted to use this space to brag about my star duo, Fang and Blackhoof. They really are one of those great pairs. The rest of the team has been smashing as well, despite a poor record. But I just can't say enough about them.

As you may well know, they are both in the Hall for their achievements: Fang has been the #2 passer for some time, and is now also on the books for his 7 MVPs. (Blackhoof has 5). Blackhoof is the standout interceptor of the league and just claimed the #10 spot for top stars of all time. (Fang is only a few points shy himself). Blackhoof also has 9 touchdowns and 4 casualties, and Fang famously stood up to an entire team alone and killed an opponent.

I wanted to see what other great pairs are out there. Not single stars, and not great teams, but great duos of all time.

So, who's got a pair?

Nice pair Laughing

Ok here's my pair. A snotling & troll combo Bash Fodder III & Gana Eat Ya.
Anyone who's played with snottys in 5vs5 will know its hard to score a TD, but this partnership has noched up 4 TDs with TTM plays.

More suprising is Bash Fodders game count, 13 games and still alive!!! An old man in snotling terms as they normaly die young.

Just thought I'd post in here to keep it alive. Dog, cult and I played a regular round robin IT yesterday, and I was a bit dismayed at the outcome. I took my fierce chaos team, the Jackson 5 against Dog's and cult's Ogres, drawing cult's first. I was able to dispatch the Simpsons Ogres pretty easily, scoring a 1-0 victory and suffering not a singe CAS against. I don't even remember a KO coming from the Ogres. Perhaps I should have kept my mouth shut, but I told cult that Dog was going to destroy my team after such an injury-free match.

As soon as the ball was kicked off against the Chaos Killas, bones started snapping. In all, the Jacksons suffered 3 SI's and a BH. I lost the game 2-1 as Jermaine III played the second half alone, scoring our lone TD.

In the match with Dog and cult, cult won it 1-0 on a sneaky ttm play, with his lone gobbo (boosted +1 AG by Illegal Drugs) scooting in to snatch up the ball after the first half kickoff to the Killas. The rest of the game was a knock-down, drag-out borefest. (ok, I didn't watch the rest...).

The final point totals for the IT? 3 points apiece, as we each won one game. According to the "computer," cult was the victor, followed by me, and then Dog. I'm happy with second, but I scored more TD's than the other two teams! Dog had the second most TD's with 2 (cult only had one), and Dog registered the most CAS. how is it that cultofspeed is crowned the champ?

Very frustrating...

Read this first ^^^^^^

I bring you a tail of 5 Stooopid Snotty's Bash Fodder III.
With 17 games under his belt Mr Fodder is the Snottys longest lived snotling (normaly they last a game or two before being splated into oblivian by some nasty Minotour). Well in his last gave vs Cultofspeed's Ehins Bash not only had the misfortune of being KILLED he also picked up a nig injury.

Oh well plenty more of them where he cam from Twisted Evil
