I'm thinking of setting up a tourney for those of us who live in NA or can play at times convienient (i.e. evening time) for those of us who do. Seeing as how i've never actually run one before I wanted to get some feedback/ideas before anything is actually set up
- experienced teams or only rookies allowed to join?
- all U teams allowed
- I was thinking of keeping it small to start (8 or 16 teams) which would be broken into 2 divisions. hopefully with a few teams in reserve to cover dropouts.
- each division would play 3 or 7 games (depending on number of teams in the division) to determine seeding and then move to single elimination brackets.
- 1 week to play your next scheduled game
- not sure the best way to handle forfeits or people taking more than a week.
- seeding based on points 2 for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss
- no OT in seeding round
- ties in the playoff rounds go to OT where first score wins. after first score hit end turn to cycle through the rest of the game but players don't move
- what kind of monetary/ff compensation aside from the standard postgame stuff? |

Frannie -
1) Either - although you may get a better tournout with R teams
2) Should restrict allied teams since they are a bit broken
3) 8 to 16 is a good number
4) 3 games is too few - especially for rookie teams - the dwarves and norse would dominate
5) better allow minimum 10 days per round - real life gets in the way and you are just asking for forfeits. Remember the best coaches are already in several leagues. Dont take all applicants - screen them beforehand to weed out possible delinquents
6) 3 pts for a win - a win should be betetr then 2 ties
7) good
Cant legally do any type of ff/money comensation - fame would work
Check out the SWL Clay or Twahn runs it - nice long term league

I recommend keeping seasons short, at most 7 games. The shorter the season, the less need for replacement teams.
there is a lot of pent of demand for NA leagues so expect a lot of applicants (including me). thecoyote was going to start the Pan-Am League and got tons of sign-ups, but he disappeared before starting the first game.
A game per 10 days seems good with people allowed to play a week ahead to keep it moving.
Also, the more stuff other people volunteer to do, the better. So if someone else maintains the website and another person the stat's leader board, then you can take care of the admin stuff and still have time to play
Hoping to play!

1 - i thought tourneys had to be set up in the U division
4 - the 3 games was more for overall quickness than team development
6 - that was a tossup for me. soccer vs NHL standings and i'm a hockey guy
i wasn't sure if you could set up a purse for winning a tournament like the LRB says about Bloodbowl, Spike tournament, etc. |

ok so here's what i'm leaning towards:
- Rookie teams from the LRB only, wizzards and star players are allowed
- two 8 team divisions with knockout tourney to determine a champion. anyone know the best way to go about setting this part up? a round robin tourney to determine seeding then set up a separate ko tourney to determine the championship? or can i set it all up as one big automatic process?
- try to create east/west divisions to help negate issues with time zones
- 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss
- tie breakers will be head to head, td differential, cas differential, d6 roll by bowlbot
- 10 days max between games
- cap of 3 teams per race allowed |

This sounds like fun, don't have much input on setting up the tourney, sorry, but if its going to be rookie teams you can count me in. |
