The first NIBBLE season is underway with lauth81's Chaos Dwarf Combi Critters team performing a ruthless 2-0 shutout on joi5574's Chaos Pact Thunderdome Toecutters team. The Toecutters hung in well but couldn't quite stop the first half Chaos Dwarf score, while their own 2nd half offense fell apart, and their loss of possession was punished with a second TD conceded.

I'm just waiting on cthol to show (hopefully tonight) so we can get it done! Sorry, bit embarrassing for the commish to be last to finish...I'm fairly new to leagues in FUMBBL, so the business of organising dates for matches well ahead of time is still new to me. We'll certainly have it done before the weekend. Sorry again!

The Breakfast of Champions Halfling team opened their account with an emphatic (some would say fortuitous, others, suspicious) 2-1 win over the Skaven of Talabheim. Undoubtedly, the star of the Halflings was the Masterchef, serving up no less than 5 rerolls in the game.

Woop! The Grughill Wild Boars go joint top of the league (some pedants would call it second place) with their first win of the campaign. There was a fair bit (some pedants would say copious amounts) of luck involved. Match report here: http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3178333

Onwards and upwards. If the boys keep scoring the coach might even deign to give them a logo.

Match report of Combi Critters' Round 3 game vs "Smell and the Gang":

NIBBLE Round 3 game

The critters receive, but lose one bull in the gang's first turn, adavane a bit, loose the ball, regain it and score in turn 6 or 7 ...
The gang is unable to change the score in the remaining two turn in half 2.

The second half starts with some scuffle in the middle of the field until the ball-carrying pestigor breaks through a gap, runs for daylight and ... stumbles.

The critters can pick up the ball and shielded by a couple of dwarves, hobgoblin Evilwit can score with 2 rounds to go. 2-0

The gang sets up, and fails to pick up the ball deep in their own half The pestigor again failing a gfi there as well - common theme in this game). The critters mark the gang's players and sent one bull deep for a potential blitz/ball pickup. Insanitie starts with some blocks in the middle of the field and, out of rerolls, commits a turnover. My bull in reach of ball and endzone, picks up the ball unhindered and scores. End of game.

The result is too high, could have easily been a draw. I think only two rerolls hurt insanitie throughout the game.

I see a bit of daylight opening up at the top of the league! Given the odd array of rosters we have, Chaos Dwarfs are one of the few with most of the tools they need from the start, so looking favourites for the title!

Can the chasing pack catch them?

Commentator's curse?

It doesn't look like the Right Stuff ignores Tackle on blocks is working either by the way.

Oh, the agony and the ecstasy - Breakfast of Champions recorded their third straight knife-edge loss with a belter of a game vs the Orcs of the Grughill Wild Boars. A woeful first defensive drive meant all the halflings could do was shelter under the branches of their Treemen, and wait for their TTM shot last turn, which failed, cruelly, in the Orcs' endzone. Puggy Baconbreath's only contribution was to seriously injure himself dodging away from a Blitzer he'd failed to knock down with a blitz.

The second half, they must have eaten something spicy as Orcs were felled left and right. Running out of time, a lone Halfling ran into the Orc backfield, but was felled and badly hurt by the unassisted Orc Thrower, with no rerolls to fall back on. A second stunty nipped in and grabbed the ball, but again was felled by the Thrower, though only knocked prone. The move of the match was next. One fling ran forward to assist, the prone 'fling jumped up and vengefully blitzed, downing the Thrower and freeing the ball. A Treeman stepped forward, and managed to place a thrown Halfling right next to the loose ball. The landing was failed, and I held my breath for the reroll...which failed also. It would have been a pick-up and GFIs to score had it succeeded.

While they've scored a grand total of 2 TDs, both in their first game, the feisty 'flings are the team with the most Casualties For!

A tense 1-0 win for the Orcish Grughill Wild Boars over the Goblins of the Old Skool Gits gave them a slender 3 point lead at the top of the league table with only one round to go.

The last round will have some interesting matchups, with several permutations possible - The Orcs have the Chaos Dwarfs of the Combi Critters to play, a tough matchup, especially as the big-hatted ones are hurting for payback having ignominiously had their title charge ended with defeat at the chubby hands of the Halfling Breakfast of Champions.

Meanwhile, the Goblins still have a slender shot at the title, needing to beat their stunty rivals, and hope the Orcs lose to win on TD difference.

And before even kicking off his Round 7 match, I can confirm Torsten is the first NIBBLE champion, with the Grughill Wild Boars Orc team.

His title was confirmed when the Old Skool Gits, needing a victory in their last match to stay in contention, lost to their stunty rivals, the Halfling Breakfast of Champions.

I want to congratulate Torsten, and thank the other coaches for making it such a fun and interesting first season. Plenty of the following pack will curse their ill luck, as so many results could easily have come out differently.

Second place is still up for grabs, so the season is by no means over!

We'll be recruiting soon for our next season, so if there are any Irish based coaches you know of, send them our way!
