I am on a new computer and on a public wireless connection atm. I want to spec a game while i wait, but nomatter which game I click, it tries to connect, retries twice, then says cannot connect to server. Is there something I am forgetting to do? |

If its an open wireless system they may have simply limited which ports you can connect to when using it. Ports for http and https as well as common stuff like MSN and AIM might be open since those are what casual users will do, while the rest of the ports may be closed to avoid file sharing and such.
That's certainly explain your ability to access the site and download the java files, but a subsequent inability to connect to the game servers. |

It might be as simple as downloading the latest java version, since you have a new computer. |
