I get a lot of questions from the two Snotlings, I mean cute little Pixies (7,9), that flutter about my homestead. Things like, "Are you making those fumble football goblins again?" and "I think you need to learn to share so I can play on the computer." I've also gotten, "Can I make one of those icon guys?", which seemed like a great way to start teaching the next generation PhotoShop tomfoolery.
The first thing they noticed was, these things are really small. They wanted to work on something big, so we started with treemen and Deeproot icons. To get them started the gave me direction and I made alterations on demand. So Deeproot got a make-over.
What Pixies think Deeproot should look like:
From that point on I helped less and less as they learned all the buttons and tools they needed. They can use the brushes and erasers, add layers, pick colours, and zoom in and out. So I let them go and they come up with some 'interesting' results.
Some more treemen, including the king of the treemen.
Any early treeman from the purple period of works.
They were very unhappy to learn treemen lacked foliage, so they remedied the situation, and gave him a flying friend.
Ummm, not sure what happened here, but it would scare me seeing this hulking creature on the pitch.
After that, they got attached to doing goblins, which at the time I was working on quite a bit for the new Stunty icons. They came up with some inventive stuff.
The first one in a simple white dress, perhaps getting married?
Everyone looks good (and slim) in their little black dress.
Loud print dress and matching fruit hat. Hard to see, but if you zoom the icon, there is indeed a banana, apple, and an orange. I was impressed.
Princess Gobblina?
Ummm, Lady Gogo? Not really sure...
Red sweater, pink dress. What do you mean they clash?
More from the purple period. Not sure what exactly to call it.
Electric blue skele-gobbo
and the fire variant of the skele-gobbo
Not sure what happened here.
Really not sure on this one either. They did this one from scratch.
This was also done from scratch, a minion. (Please don't run off and make a Minion roster for Stunty! )
And finally, a rather villainous, yet dashing, Squig my younger Pixie made (and I cleaned up the moustache and boots a tiny bit because I thought it was hilarious). She also insists on calling them Squidges. (Edit: corrected the pronunciation. I was remanded for saying it wrong. )
It has been a blast helping the Pixies make these little icons. In a few years I suspect they will be replacing me as the pixelista's of the household. |

You have some funny and talented pixies. Pretty sure if mine were turned loose, every player would feature a tiara and glitter. |

I showed the little ones (thankfully before Synn posted ) and they were very excited and happy to see everyone liked their work.
I was also corrected on my pronunciation, it is Squidges, not Squeeges. Who knew? |

Oh, sweet!
My daughter (4 years) also keeps telling me "Papa, can you paint dwarf again?" ("Papa, kannst du wieder Zwerg malen?"). Well, my work is probably not able to match that of your pixies... but still, maybe my daughter gets hooked and will have more talent than me! |
