blodge side stepping guard vampires are awesome. Although I go with pro instead of tackle.

Pro is a vampire's best friend.

Pro is a vicious circle.

Pro doesn't reliably help when blitzing a dodgy ball carrier (or else) like Tacle does. It doesn't toughen your opponent's choices of plays (in fact, Pro is a total non-factor to deal with for opponents). It doesn't hinder dodgy player's or ball carrier's movement. It doesn't synergize with Diving Tacle. By ricochet, since dodgy players can freely escape Pro, it forces you to constantly reposition your Vampires somewhere relevant... This constant need for reactivation makes Pro even more desirable to spam. Pro isn't a Vampire's best friend, it's a Vampire's costly wife.

By forfeiting Pro for Tacle you gain better blitzers and man-markers spread more evenly across the field, saving you some dramatic plays who'll steal your rerolls. You also gain better passive Vampires that you don't have to constantly activate... negating the usefulness of Pro. Finally, for a dramatic play, using a team reroll is far more reliable than Pro (50% success odds is poor at blood bowl). And if you lost your team reroll to a Bloodlust, you still benefit from Tacle. If you succeed your Bloodlust (and there's far more chances that you will than not), you'll have both a reroll and Tacle which is a far better combo than a reroll and Pro.

tackle is for the thralls.

Pro does hinder your opponent because it amplifies hypnotic gaze, increasing your ability to get your wrestle stripball or wrestle tackle thrall on the ball carrier and decreasing his options.

But the main point here is Vampires, despite only having two types of players, are usually the most diversely built teams in bloodbowl. There are so many routes to build.

Hi everyone. I've been following this thread with great interest but there's something I'm trying to figure out. If you have 6 vampires on your team, how do you handle the set up on defensive drives? With only 5 thralls on the pitch, do you put 3 of them on the line, or try to absorb some hits with a vampire instead? I suppose it will depend on what you're up against, but if you have some pointers for me I'd be all ears.

The Pro vs. no Pro debate has been covered several times on the forums, but I'm too lazy to search. Tarabaralla and The_Provocateur used to be the benchmark, they ran without Pro spam. But lately, kingvan and Harad have won Majors with Vampires and they both do the Pro spam. I think it's fair to say that both approaches are valid.

(Said the guy who has 2 games with Vampires.)

Unless my opponent is full of tackle claw mightyblow, I'll put 3 vampires on the frontline. Ideally all blodge guard side step. Then two thralls nearby to limit assists against them.
