Hi all!
Joining a tournament in a few weeks and thinking of maybe taking a chainsaw in the team.
Question is,would you add a chainsaw player in your roster if you could?
Tv is 110.
Example of team difference:
Chainsaw yes! Chainsaw no?
4black orcs. 4black orcs
4blitzers. 4blitzers
1thrower. 1thrower
1gobbo
1Troll. CHAINSAW
1Lineorc. 2lineorcs
3xrr. 3xrr
1x ff. 1xff
Or something completely differnt? |

If you get to put a chainsaw (Ugroth?) on your team..
What kind of toys do the teams you will be facing get? |

If you can choose skills instead, go with the skills. Personally, I find chainsaws rarely worth it. They fail their block / foul completely on a 1/6 roll. The rest of the time, they are an opponents #1 blitz target until they are gone from the field. It rarely takes long... |

most people will vote yes because they love the idea of a chainsaw, but they are rarely worth it. Av9 does help, but as grod says if you can have skills instead or another player that would be preferable.
Do you have the tournament rule set so we can look? |

i recently took a saw to a TT tourney, ot definitely increased the fun factor, but of course reduced reliability. in 4 games it did great for me, one it was a bit of a problem, and one it cost me the game.
Like frenzy, it depends how you use it and protect it, and when you risk it. It WILL attract the opposition blitzes, and it will alter how they play, that can be useful. |

Everybody starts a tv 110 team and depending on what tier team you choose you can give some
Players extra skills.
T1 = 6normal skills
T2=6skills and 1of them can be a double
T3=7skills and 2 of them can be doubles
Every game you get all players back.
Choice of what team i play is still very far away.
So now choosing between lizards, orcs, norse, khemri, chaos, humans or renegades.
But never realy tried a chainsaw so thats why i’m maybe considering one now. |

Does the tourney have a specific rule about giving a player chainsaw? Or do you mean hiring a star player with chainsaw?
If not you need to be aware chainsaw is an Extraordinary skill and doesn't count as a normal or a double so you can't give it to someone based on those rules. Especially as you would need to give them secret weapon as well. Otherwise you'd end up with gutter runners with stunty so they can just run everywhere on 2 plus. Plus I wouldn't give it to the troll...
I might have misunderstood you though!
EDIT: Oh I have misunderstood, apologies xD I thought you meant giving the troll the chainsaw skill. Silly Gnoblar. |

Taking a chainsaw meaning taking the chainsaw starplayer.
The example was meant to be for orcs to maybr take the orcs starplayer with chainsaw and a lineorc instead of the troll and gobbo. |

Ah so not taking chainsaw on an AV9 lineman but getting a star player (av7 from memory).
While there is some fun in that. I would not do it unless you have a round robin draw and a good chance at fighting wood elves or some nice squishy av7 team.
Orks are not known for scoring and if you are kicking instead of receiving, the opposition could score a try and get your chainsaw banned. |

The goblin chainsaw is Blodge. In a low skills environment that may well help keep him on the pitch for a drive. |

Orcs have Ugroth Bolgrot as their chainsaw star player for 100K. He's actually one of the better ones as he has AV9 (and no stunty). This lets him survive kickbacks and blocks most of the time. |
