if you limit the forward/midfield combo too much, scoring will become really difficult.

Actually this would be relaxing the rules on Midfielders.. allowing them to move freely on their half, while still maintaining the middlezone restriction on the opposing half.

Also remember that since the Defenders aren't moving during the offense's turn, all they really have for defense is their TZs and INT chances that's why numbers are important.

played the first game, it was interesting....
and btw, i won 2-0 with skaven vs Craftnburn's orcs, though we ended the game early to avoid the match report.
it was very challenging play and hard to remember some of the movement rules
(CnB cheated a LOT during our trial)
but it was fun and I will definately have a team in for FootBrawl!

I wasn't cheating I swear! Wink

I am working on a method in the rules to deal with those sorts of oversights however, since I think they'll be inevitable.

BTW, I'm looking for help playtesting these rules.. if you're interested, just make a team and join the FootBrawl! League http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=group&op=view&group=4265

or feel free to try them out on your own, and give me some feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,

I was fortunate to overcome the 2 early BHs, and It was a stroke of luck that your scorer dropped that Turn 14 scoring pass!

Still the test games are really helping iron things out.. I've got some great tweaks in mind. New revision coming soon.

First game under 2.5

FootBrawl Thugs! (Orc-Craftnburn) 1 vs Warpstone Brawlers (Skaven-Thereisaball) 1.

Very close game with the Orcs having 3 good chances to score spoiled by the blinding sun! The skaven also missed out on a great scoring chance due to a failed handoff. The Orcs managed quite a few stuns which really helped open the field for them. The Skaven meanwhile typically used their speed to great effect.

I don't want to speak for Thereisaball but I had a GREAT time and really enjoyed the game.

All in all an extremely successful test of the 2.5 ruleset. The player image based positions made game play very smooth such that if I remember correctly there were only 2 penalties called. 2.5 seems to have struck a good balance between Bashing and Balling as shown by the very even play between these two very different style teams.

Thanks again to Thereisabrawl! Wink

What about the offside rule? 3 players hanging at the goalmouth is surely offside, or is the referee's assistant a woman? =D

OK sexist slurs aside I think this is a pretty cool concept, would like to give it a try.

In practice it's rather difficult to make effective use of this as the limit of 1 pass per turn means if you want to shoot this turn, you have to Hand off to the shooter. This usually means that your shooters can be screened off, or your ball carrier blitzed before you can get the ball in to the loiterers.

Cool, welcome aboard! Lizards should be interesting. Don't forget the need for color coded player images. There are basic ones available from my Orcs http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team&op=view&team_id=336477 or you can make your own.

I can speak for Thereisaball!

I really enjoyed the game, I liked the different strategies and shift in focus of skills and stats.

You might think that Bashy teams would suffer, but players with high strength (or Horns!) can make blitz's much more effective than players who need assists, and can't get them easily because of the TZ rules. Craft made great use of his Black Orcs to open holes on other wise secure lines.

I am looking forward to trying this out with SPP gain, to see how teams will develop and how strategies evolve.

Great idea Craft, I am spoiling for a rematch!
