The NCBB has just completed its 15th season, capped off by a stellar bowl week. But before moving on, we need to take a look back at the best players from last year, so let me introduce my partners, former Cal blocker Anthony Killer and current NC State quarterback Tyler Brosius. What do you guys like most about the awards voting?
Anthony Killer: Now that NCBB graduates can be drafted by the NBFL, I think the awards voting is a great way to identify future pros.
Tyler Brosius: Agreed. It is quite exhilarating watching these young throwers grow into future franchise cornerstones.

-Beerox: an undefeated regular season culminating in consecutive championship game appearances
-ex-convict: fairly unexplainable, but ex-con managed to drop only one contest and somehow win another national championship
-Relezite: a five win season capped off with a Rose Bowl victory
-Nicodemus: had a stellar run through the NCBB with numerous award winners and bowl victories; sad to see you go
 Gabbert-Bryant Nominees
-The Gabbert-Bryant award is given to the best quarterback, whether a passer, runner, or combination of the two, in the NCBB. Players are listed in no particular order:
-Hundley, UCLA. 7 completions, 1 touchdown, 16 passing yards, 69 rushing yards, 2.28 yards per completion.
-Billie the Bow, HSU. 12 completions, 70 passing yards, 88 rushing yards, 5.833 yards per completion. Lead the nation in passing yards.

-As most of us know, players in the NCBB are only allowed to play for four seasons, and thus teams are always recruiting promising players to come in and continue on the tradition. This award will be given to the best freshman player from the past season, whether he got a redshirt in the last-last season (in this case 14,) or was hired more recently. Seriously Injured Issue#116
Season 16 marks the return of SI's weekly magazine. This season we will be adding a weekly offensive and defensive players of the week. In this weeks edition we will be taking a look at each BCS conference and give our in depth analysis and predicted order of finish. We may do an analysis of the Non-AQ after week 3 or 4 but as of now there is no body of work to base an analysis on atm. So with our further udo....
Big Beast Conference
1. California Golden Lizards
Coach: ex-convict
Race: Lizardman
Players: 7 Freshman, 1 Sophomores, 2 Juniors, 3 Seniors
The NCBB defending national champions brings in a huge freshman class mainly consisting of skinks, but they also brought in one Saurus and a Krox. This team while losing a few skinks to graduation and their Krox and one Saurus brings back a core of imposing Saurii. A pair of block tackle MB with one having PO(Matt Williamsss) will make any blodger cringe. In fact all but one veteran Sauri except the freshman have MB. Add in the freshman Krox and California maybe the bashiest team in the BCS this season. Some may say the lack of developed skinks could hurt this team but really the speed of skinks more than make up for any lack of skills. With the front line this team has, the skinks should have easy sledding running through massive holes opened up by this experienced Sauri front line.
Strenghts: Experienced well developed Saurii, explosive speed of the skinks, and knows what it takes to win in the biggest games.
Weakness: The lack of break tackle on this team could be an achilles heel for this team. Tie up those Saurii and you can get a score.
X-factor: Will one of these newly recruited skinks develop into a nice +agi skink....if so....the skies the limits for this team.
2. Florida Rotting Gators
Coach: Garnak
Race: Nurgle
Players: 2 Freshman, 10 Sophomores, 0 Juniors, 0 Seniors
This brand new comer to the BCS had an excellent regular season last season going 3-3-0. They also had the first ever triple award winner in Emmit Smith. However in their bowl game they fell a little short in OT against a team they tied earlier in the season. I smell rivalry here between Florida and Nippon U. Since this is just the second season of this team. There are some developmental issues. However they have a good strong core of Nurgle Warriors which all but one has the block skill already and they definitely have their main ball carrier established in Emmit Smith. The biggest challenge facing this team will be facing developed teams for the first time.
Strenghts: Being Nurgle by itself is a good strenght in the fact that you severely effect opponents passing game. Throw in the fact that you have a solid core of 4 str warriors this team should not be pushed around by other teams.
Weakness: The lack of team speed will make coming from behind a hard chore for this team. The lack of damage inducing skills will also be a problem for team built around gaining the upper hand through attrition.
X-factor: Will Emmith Smith stay healthy this season moving up to the BCS. You have some pretty rugged teams to play in this conference.
3. Fresno State Red-Wave
Coach: robocoyote
Race: Chaos
Players: 1 Freshman, 4 Sophomores, 6 Juniors, 0 Seniors
A relatively new comer to the NCBB this team has yet to graduate a class. This team did not have post season play last season. On paper this team looks very good. Fairly well developed Chaos Warriors one being the sole ball carrier of the team. Kyle "Hammer" Gronski is a CW who has Clpomb which will make him an extremely dangerous player on the pitch. Throw in a pair of 7 MA beastman and this team has a lot of tools to really be successful this season. The development of the freshman Minotaur will be the something we watch with interest this season as well. Now in their 3rd season we will see if this team can step up and make a bowl appearance.
Strenghts: The CWs of this team will be the core of this team with one being the main ball carrier. It will be hard to punch the ball loose once they get into cages and start grinding it out. This team will also have a good CS rate which in turn will help them gain upper hand in a lot of their games.
Weakness: This team has zero guard and 1 tackler. If this team faces a guard heavy or blodge heavy team they could have some problems stopping them.
X-factor: The 7 ma blodge beastman could be the biggest game changer for this team. With the speed to get down field and also being a blodger this guy could get that last minute TD needed to tie or win a game for the Red-Wave.
4. Kansas Elvenhawks
Coach: SirOrange
Race: Pro Elf
Players: 1 Freshman, 10 Sophomores, 0 Juniors, 0 Seniors
The second new comer to the BCS in this conference. They did not play in the NCBB last season. This team returns to the NCBB and gets thrown right into the fire of the BCS. This team has a full core of catchers which means this team is never out of a game. That being said this team has a lot of developmental issues currently. Since it's been awhile since this team has played in the NCBB there is not a lot of film to go by currently. While this team is young and inexperienced it should be fun to watch with the magic that elves are capable of.
Strengths: A team full of agi 4 and 4 players with 8 ma means that scoring should not be an issue for this team. Being AV 8 also helps with the long term health of the team.
Weakness: The lack of guard and stripball removes one of the favorite tactics of elven teams to jump into a cage and knock the ball loose, The lack of blodge on the team could make it hard to stay upright on the pitch.
X-factor: Will the Elvenhawks have enough players on the pitch by the end of each game to be able to score enough to win?
5. Ohio State Drunkguys
Coach: Jeffro
Race: Norse
Players: 5 Freshman, 6 Sophomores, 1 Junior, 2 Seniors
This team is relatively young for Ohio St. They did not make a bowl last season but that could change this season. This team has some very well developed runners (Eddie George being the star) as well as a thrower. Scoring won't be much of a problem for this team this season. However the lack of one Ulfwerener and the youth of the Blitzer core could be an issue this season for the Drunkguys. The good thing for this team this year is there is a lot of bodies to put on the pitch this season. Ohio St is carrying 14 players this season. We expect some good things from this team this season.
Strengths: Good coaching, beer kegs, and the ability to standup to strenght teams with their pair of developed runners.
Weakness: Av7 will be their biggest weakness. Can they keep enough players on the pitch to win? Coach Jeffro has a deep team will it be enough?
X-factor: Good speed will help this team be in good position most of the time. Will Coach Jeffro pickup the 2nd Ulfwerener or not?
6. South Florida Cochroaches
Coach: Honkie
Race: Norse
Players: 2 Freshman, 11 Sophomores, 0 Juniors, 0 Seniors
A third new comer to the BCS this year. Last season in the Non-AQ they did not fair so well. Going 1-3-5. This season is a new season however and the Coachroaches look to rebound with the help of their star thrower Cucaracha Petterflet (A +agi thrower) and a nicely developing runner. With one Ulfwerener already having block and both blitzers developing one is also +agi they look to have a solid core of players for the future. We are a bit perplexed by the lack of a Snow troll on the team. With the athletic department having the funds to buy one we wonder if coach Honkie is still in the process of recruiting one or perhaps there is some academic reasons why their Snow Troll has not joined the team yet. In any event we predict a tough season for this young team.
Strenghts: These young players are really developing nicely with a pair of +agi players and a guard lino. If they can stay uninjured they will become quite the force in the future.
Weakness: Very young group of players. Needs a lot more development to compete in the BCS.
X-factor: The need to remain injury free. If they can stay on the pitch they'll be able to compete.
7. University of Hawaii
Coach: Apojar
Race: High elf
Players: 1 Freshman, 1 Sophomore, 9 Juniors, 0 Seniors
This long time member of the NCBB has a very developed team but lacks a bench. They are coming off a win over the Black knights in the Tossit-os Fiesta bowl. The athletic department has the funds to add some additional talent but we'll see what Coach Apojar does with it this season. The speed of this team is rather amazing. They could be one of the fastest teams in the NCBB this season. Without a doubt Justin Clap is one of the fastest in the league period with a double +ma added to an already scary fast 8 ma catcher. We expect this team to challenge for the conference crown this season. Will anyone be able to out score this team we'll have to wait and see.
Strenghts: Super fast catchers, Plenty of blodge, and the experience to know how to win.
Weakness: The lack of a bench could hurt this team down the stretch if not addressed during the season.
X-factor: Without a lot of tacklers in the conference this team could blodge their way to a conference crown.
