Hello
I apologize if I post in the wrong section, however the LRB5 one seems dedicated the LRB5 division and not to the tactics and strategy of a "real" LRB5 team.
I'm joining a league close to where I live, I'll be playing undeads. I was wondering if some of the LRB5 experienced coaches out there could give me a few tips. I like undeads a lot in the LRB4, but I'm not familiar with the concequences of the changes introduced in the LRB5.
1) Zombies 10k more expensive ... Does it mean I should use some skeletons now? My zombies take a LOT of hits, I hardly see how a skeleton could do the job. They get stunned or worse too easly.
2) No G access for the mummies and new S access to the wights. With those new S skills, how would you skill them and why?
The team I have in mind:
2 x mummy
2 x whight
2 x ghoul
6 x zombie
3 x reroll
10k left, not sure if I should use them.
What do you think? |

Fan Factor?
Also remember that Dirty Player, a wonderfull skill for a zombie, is nerfed in LRB 5. Wights however are really good now with S acces. I would drop a zombie for more FF, even though FF is not as important anymore. Mummys can now get the new super skill "Grab". |

Question 1: No. Skeletons suck.
Question 2: Wights are now finally good at what they were meant to be. Blitzing. In an open league the first skill choice would depend on what the racial mix in the league is. Guard is nice to ensure those 3 dice b locks for your non Gen access mummies, if you have a lot of dodgy teams in the league at least 1 guy with tackle is nice. Mighty blow is of course always nice.
Oh, and buying Fanfactor in LRB is not as silly as it sounds. I started my undeads with ff9 to make sure I get that Fame every game. Don't forget, Fame is now always a +1 on winnings, and with high FF you can even get Fame +2. So if you don't want to change anything else about your team at least buy a FF for that 10k you have left over.
I would even drop a zombie and go up to 5 FF, but that's just me. |

About dirty player, so true =/
About FF I just realized that to have the Fame also affects ALL the rolls on the kick off table O_O
2 x mummy
2 x wight
2 x ghoul
5 x zombie
3 x reroll
5 x FF
But I could even drop a ghoul for another zombie and 3 more FF ... I don't see how to get to 9 tho |

i would recommend putting the 10k in the bank.
FF change so much anyway if you win or loose, so buying them from the start is a waste of money. Better to make sure you win the game with better positionals as winning gives you 10k extra and lets you reroll the winning dice.
Having one or maybe two each of cheering fans and assistant coaches is usually a good thing though as those rolls are now D3 and occur much more often than in LRB4. |

I forgot to say one thing, I think I can expect to play 10 games with the team. Probably not more. |

As far as I've seen LRB5 undead are pretty similar in style to LRB4 undead. It looks like you've got a solid lineup.
1 - Maybe, from what I've seen its normal to take mostly zombies but throw in a few skeletons to save some cash. If you reckon you can use the extra movement in defence (which you probably can) then I'd go for maybe 4 zombies and 2 skeletons.
2 - Guard mostly.... wights develope much like human blitzers where mummies are more like big guys. I'd probably go with BT as your second mummy skill because (unlike big guys) you can re-roll the dodge which can make your two mummies spread alot further accross the pitch.
If you skimped on two zombies and made them skeletons then you'll have 30k left. I'd spend it all on FF - that way your skeletons will pay you several times over as well as redeeming their inferior abilities by winning kickoff results. |

I don't know about your league, but most leagues are now running the experimental tomb guardian [khemri] and updated skeletons experimental rules, I believe. This makes skeletons equal in cost to zombies, and... still probably not worth it on an undead team. |

I believe the experimental skellies get thick skull... don't really know if that makes them worth their cost since I don't have much undead metagame experience. |

Wrong, it is experimental.
