To get totally back on topic I think the BBRC did the right thing.
Clearly they didn't realise ClawPomb is way OP in perpetual matchmaking so they thought CD's needed a boost after the DP nerf and losing their Big Guy.

Thank you

Yup I get that, and it the first reasonable reason I have heard.

I'm just not sure they needed that boost. Do you still think they would need claw if the cpomb combo wasn't such a nightmare in the hands of chaos and nurgle?

Yes, and Jimmy's comment pretty much explains why the old Box died.

I'm looking at 4.5 cas/game CRP vs 4.8 for LRB4. And the LRB4 stats don't include ageing. Wink

Wow although nothing to do with this discussion that is still very interesting. So what you are saying is the bbrc failed in their attempt to make the game more violent to make up for the lack if ageing?

What this also means is they not only made it softer they only left the ability to cause damage in the hands of a few teams instead of everyone. Or are there maybe other factors to take into account?

Yeah I think CD's probably should get Claw, but ClawPomb shouldn't be OP.
If ClawPomb isn't OP how do you make Chaos and Nurgle better at winning?
Nurgle pretty much suck at winning through all TV ranges despite access to the combo, and Chaos don't get very good when you remove RO from the stats.

I think it would be interesting to see how the racial breakdown on giving and receiving casualties changed between editions.

Ps. And the tv breakdown of casualties suffered as the idea was to increase the blood at higher levels afaik.

I'll have to do some thing proper later.

I can tell you though that "it was the khems wot done it" Wink

CRP chaos are the big hitters but only doing 2.91 cas per game.
But when I were a lad LRB4 khems were doing 3.59. Very Happy
Ogres weren't too shabby either at 2.92.
Most teams were nastier except the claw boys.
Orcs were dang good, Nurlge were [censored] awful.

Now if you told that to young people today...

I have to say I am also surprised that cas average was higher "back in the days". Still would it be possible to get the cas differentials for TV1700+? I cannot imagine any team causing as much damage as new chaos or nurgle.

Still, Garion, it was not all golden back in the days. The new ruleset has its clear weaknesses but overall is a good one. As long as you don't play C-Pomb you will hardly feel a difference. It is actually better, as new skills like Wrestle mix it up a bit (no more block-monotony), inducements make for fairer games and the kick-off table has been improved. Join a league, there most of the problems you have with the ruleset are by far not as prominent.

On topic: I don't think CDs need claw and I consider them with it the best all-around teams as they are already a tough match-up for elves/skaven, non-claw bashers and hybrid teams, while doing as well against Chaos/Nurgle/Pact as any non-elf team.

This game isn't balanced at all, as a general rule... so, personally, I don't mind balance and overpowering, nor minmaxing...

I've just passed over this article
https://fumbbl.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=27&page=5
I reconciled with the game thanks to it

Thus, "I'm just happy clicking something"

Interesting cas-count comparison.
Does it include fouling? I mean, many leagues only track SPP-casualties.
If it doesn't, then yikes for the old days - we all know how much a damage a few 1-skill linos could inflict.
