Not a Mac user myself, but here is an FYI for people who do.
Given the client runs in Java, its pretty important

I may be wrong but the link just says mac are not supplying it anymore because of its security issues. You can still download it directly though, so this shouldn't be a problem. If I understand correctly? |

The funny thing here is that this has been in the works for a while. Apple previously announced that they were going to cease maintaining the Java platform and let Oracle handle the OS X platform much like they're handling Windows, Linux and Solaris.
The change now is that Apple will not pre-install it on OS X, and users will have to go to Oracle to install the Java platform. Much like Windows users do.
I've been running Oracle's Java version for a while on OS X and there are no large issues with it. The only thing I've noticed is that rotated text is a bit messed up for now (which essentially comes down to the AffineTransform class not behaving correctly). |

This actually sounds like a good thing for fumbbl, as now people will not try to run ffb on apples own java-engine, but use oracles, which the ffb-client is coded for.
If i recall right there have been some issues with ffb and the apple java vm. |

Not really. Apple has traditionally been shipping Oracle's (or Sun's) Java VM, except it has been delayed in terms of updates.
You may be thinking of Linux distributions which have used some alternative OpenJDK variant. |
