Only the designated catcher can Diving Catch at the ball, so if you aim between them, neither gets a chance. If you aim at one of them, THAT player can Diving Catch but not the other. Should the ball scatter on top of the non-diver he can of course try and catch.. |

The tables are very nice!
About the Dirty Player table - does this table assume you're using the +2 bonus on armour piercing or +2 to the injury roll? Seems to me that from looking at it you're assuming the +2 is going to armour (also note that your odds of piercing are >100% for armour 2 and 3 but not for armour 1...). Since most DP fear is caused by the gangbang, it would be great if you could add a DP table that calculates the casualties based on the +2 to injury (even if just on the auto-piercings of av 1 and 2...)
Thanks,

Seeing as how MB seems to be better then RSC. (About the same KO+cas but a lot more stuns) how does claw compare to MB? |

I'd say claw outperforms MB, at least at AV8 and above. This is what I calculated:
Claw:
Code: |
AV 6 AV 7 AV 8 AV 9 AV 10
Stun 48,61 % 42,13 % 34,03 % 24,31 % 16,20 %
KO 20,83 % 18,06 % 14,58 % 10,42 % 6,94 %
Cas 13,89 % 12,04 % 9,72 % 6,94 % 4,63 %
KO+Cas 34,72 % 30,09 % 24,31 % 17,36 % 11,57 %
|
Mighty Blow:
Code: |
AV 6 AV 7 AV 8 AV 9 AV 10
Stun 32,41 % 27,08 % 19,68 % 13,43 % 8,33 %
KO 21,30 % 16,90 % 11,96 % 7,87 % 4,63 %
Cas 18,52 % 14,35 % 10,03 % 6,48 % 3,70 %
KO+Cas 39,81 % 31,25 % 21,99 % 14,35 % 8,33 %

cheers RandomOracle...
I suddenly thought that I'd put the wrong word in at the end of my explanation.
But phew... turns out Dertre was just being rude about not understanding my method. Ah...
I was correct, Dertre. The probability of 0.75 is of succeeding eventually; One way or another (either by getting it first attempt or with the reroll). The method I presented is just handy, because it gives you a neat trick for all sorts of messy probability trees when all that matters is the outcome - you find the single path that leads to the alternative result.
Anyway, there is an irony here
I couldn't post earlier to correct Dertre's hasty post and defend my explanation because i was at work - explaining Science to kids! Meanwhile there was someone in Paris who needed my explanations more than anyone
Dertre, on the other hand, thankyou for your post, because it highlights how that explanation could be taken out of context accidentally - showed that it was not "fool-proof"

****so the chance of failure is 1.00 - 0.25 = 0.75

Obviously not true, as you don't need to reroll a successful roll.
The chance of succeeding right away: 0.5 (4-6)
The chance of succeeding with a reroll: 0.5 (1-3) x 0.5 (4-6) = 0.25
Total chance of success: 0.5 + 0.25 = 0.75 |

Of course, I noticed afterwards that Ian Williams had already done pretty much the same thing on his website. One useful thing that I noticed is that RSC gives you a better chance of causing a casualty than Claw against AV 8 and lower, but Claw gives you a better chance of removing a player from the pitch with either a KO or casualty and a much better chance of causing a stun. |
That's the main reason I'm a big fan of Claw. Many players seem to think it's a skill for killing players, but the reality is it's a fantastic skill for getting all those extra stuns that give your team more time to pick up the ball, and stop you from getting hit as much. For a team like Rotters where the majority of your players are AV8 no apoth, this is a good thing. I've noticed my new Rotters without Claw are getting blocked a whole lot more, and therefore suffering a lot more injuries. |

I always though only 42% of statistics were made up on the spot... |

I could be wrong, but I think only 32% of the time are statistics made up on the spot 42% of the time. The remaining 68% of the time Grod is correct in that they are made up 75% of the time. Get your facts straight CSlave!!!
