I understand this could take a bit too much work, but how about a transfer system for coaches to buy and sell players off other teams. It might be a way for poorer teams to buy a quality player even if he does have a niggling injury. Or on the other hand a more experienced team may wish to sell a star player at a profit in order to add depth to a depleted squad. Player prices could maybe be negotiated between coaches.
I doubt it would ever come to be, but i think it could add that extra dimension and prove quite interesting.

Player transfers would definitely be a good thing, but should probably be confined to a particular league, where all the coaches can get to know the stars of the league.
This would enable players to become legends. If it was used in the main divisions, nobody would care who the players were.

Exactly. In the sense of leagues, it sounds like a cool idea, but FUMBBL would just become a terrible league with a few super-teams out there and then the rest of us. The only way to keep this from happening would be to overhaul the entire monetary system that Blood Bowl uses to create salary caps/salaries for players. This would make the game way too complex and too hard to maintain.

Maybe you could make it like an auction where you could sell off any unwanted players or just to generate some cash. This way you would avoid two coaches from selling to each other for pennies, unless no one else bids on them. When you place a player for sale everyone can bid on him and he goes to the highest bidder when the auction ends.

You could put the retired players into a free booter list. Then you could free boot these players on a game per game basis. Of course you would have to work out how much they cost to free boot. Should be cheaper than a star player free booter, but not too cheap. A player that doesn't get free booted in a certain time frame after retirement gets dropped from the list. Also these free booter cannot get new SPP but they should be able to suffer new injuries.

Sounds like a lot of work though. Smile

Well, isn't there a formula to work up how much a player is worth taking into account SPP, injuries, etc.? If there was a fixed system to figure out how much a player was worth, then having a team spend the money on buying this player shouldn't unbalance the game? I cannot see what harm there is in purchacing an experienced player. Money is hard to come by in BB. Spending money on a player who can possibly die the next game shouldn't make a drastic impact.
