A lot of people around me seem to be in love with dwarf teams ... and I hate to play against them. I also suck against dwarf and chaos dwarf teams. And I´m not a very coach either. What would you recommend as a team in a rookie league to stand a fair chance in such an enverinmoent ? Another bash team (maybe undead ?) or rather an agility team ? Bash teams will face a lot of block, agility teams will struggle with tackle... or is it just me being crap against dwarves ?

Orcs do pretty well vs them and are pretty boss in short TT leagues.

I posted a similar question not that long ago. The advice I got was gold. Play dwarfs yourself for a bit. You quickly get a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses and how to exploit them. Lo and behold my success rate against dwarf teams has improved dramatically.

I definitely haven't mastered it but I'm doing much better. The key is to move. Once you've played dwarfs you'll appreciate just how slow they are and how any required movement or separation of the group really hurts.

I play dwarves a LOT, have done for many years

there biggest strength is unity, seperate them if u can and they lose a LOT of effectiveness...

and yes, take orcs

Skaven are awesome vs dwarves. As for bash orcs are probably the way to go.

Undead.
Try to get them to square off 1 v 1 against the Zombies. Position them so that if blocked the dorf might follow up and be pulled away from the rest of the dorfs.

Try to keep your Ghouls clean (untouched). Use only 2 Ghouls most of the time.

Try to set up 3 dice blocks for your Mummies. If you can't get a 3 dice block take the 2 dice blocks OR try to soak up at least 2 if not 3 dorfs in your tackle zones.

Try to use your Wights to make key Blocks with your Zombies assisting (or if need be your Ghouls). If your Wights are tied down try to blitz them free.

Get KICK on your 1st Zombie to skill and know how to use it to stymie dorfs.
Guard and Block are the 2 main skills you need to beat dorfs.
Wights start with Block... so Guard 1st.
Ghouls need Block to protect themselves.
You need a Double to get Block on the Mummies and a regular roll for Guard.

And read that thread Grod linked.

The two options are do what they do but better (hit with bigger boys, Orcs and Lizards are both good examples), or focus on their other weakness, pace. I find that when playing Dwarves, the old adage of 'speed kills' is apt.

There's a third option. Play Dwarfs and kill the league with boredom! Smile

Hard to get with rookie teams. Although I guess one could start with Necros, feed the wolves SPP and hope for doubles. Or play Chaos and start with a mino, taking Claw as first skill. Pretty nasty (although rookie Chaos will struggle, especially in a league full of dwarves).

I definitely enjoy playing against dwarves the most when I have a team with strength and armour myself, it can be a pretty jolly bash war with important decisions on when to engage, where to push, follow up or not, and not least how to advance with the ball.

So far it looks like either outbash them (Orcs, Lizzies or Undead) or outrun them (Skaven or Woodies). Having tested both Skaven and Woodies I guess I´d rather go down the bash route, my Woodies are retired because of massive casualties and injuries, my Skaven are still up (in tabletop) but already suffered a couple of injuries, too....

lizards are a great shout actually, they have both the speed to outrun dwarves and the st to tie them up/bash them
