The team had only just left the city gates when they heard a voice. "Oi! Froggy! You wanna game?" it said to them and they look around to see what was going on, as Mundiconqua looked down a snort came from him inadvertently. They looked down to see half-men standing in front of them and they wondered what they were doing in this part of the world.

Xholmundi said to them, "What kind of people are you? How do you come to be in Lustria?", and there was a moment's silence as they men opposite considered this. "Well... The thing is, we was on our way to a minor tournament and we got blown off course in a storm." Ball players? Xholmundi thought to himself. They got to talking and it transpired that the team was named the Mighty Blowflies and they were a traveling team devoted to showing the world just how good Halflings (as they called themselves) could be. "Oh yeah! Before youse start" said the fling, "We has got ourselves some help you know". And he whistled.

As he did so, two massive trees came shuffling out from the undergrowth. As the Sun Gods eyes widened, the flings chuckled and set up for the game. They received first and straight away Xholmundi was leaping in to knock the ball loose. The next few turns saw the trees attempting to main the Sun Gods as the ball went too and fro. The flings recovered the ball and tried to rearrange themselves. Xholmundi tried his luck again and succeeded only in pushing the unusually agile fling closer to his enormous guardians. The flings were well marshaled and were giving as good as they got outblocking the Sun Gods who were trying to edge around the periphery to get a go at the ball.

With a start, the Sun Gods saw the tree pick up the ball carrier and throw him howling through the air. As he slumped to the ground the Sun Gods were able to retrieve the ball. Looking downfield, Xholmundi saw Zlatoatl screaming for the ball. He leaped over the markers and threw it to him, neatly managing to get in the way of retaliation. The Sun Gods by this time had suffered some frogs knocked out and as such they endeavoured to get the ball near the end zone which they achieved quite happily.

Out of second chances the Sun Gods made it into the end zone to make it 1-0. And the flings had lost two of their players to the KO Box. The Sun Gods were amazed by their ability to slip out of the tightest spaces and vowed to be careful in their attacking phase. And yet, greed is a powerful motivator. The Sun Gods moved down the flank through Boqkai and Tihex with Xholtoc lending strong support. Zlatoatl moved behind the lines and the Slann tried to lock down their opponents. Having thrown yet another fling, they had Xholmundi seemingly trapped deep in the Sun Gods half. However, his superior agility shone and he was able to free himself and run to safety. A couple of mistakes by both sides led to the Sun Gods getting the ball to Zlatoatl in order to see him gain greater abilities. There was some inconsequential blocking until one of the trees smashed Boqkai to the ground. In what was becoming a distressing scene, both sides grouped around the player as he struggled for breath.

"Xholmundi..." he groaned...
"Yes brother?"
"The plan must succeed. Let me die knowing I have been part of something greater than myself".
"We can save you" the Captain said but it was not to be. Boqkai let himself slip away. A beatific smile on his face.

The game became furious now, with Kailoq and Tihex hurting two flings badly and the flings retaliating with some massive fouling. Xholmundi himself was badly hurt late in the game and the numbers were starting to thin alarmingly. The chatty fling made his way clear and Mundiconqua snorted as he went to knock him down. Sadly for his self-esteem, the flings consistently brought him to the ground and moved on. A late score by the Mighty Blowflies allowed them a real measure of honour in the match which had been played in a particularly fine spirit.

As the teams both mourned the departed, they shook hands and the flings wished them luck on their quest. "We will keep informed of your progress fellas" said their captain and the Sun Gods promised to keep in touch with their doughty little opponents. As they considered the surreal nature of the match, the Sun Gods couldn't help but smile. They knew that one day their paths would cross again, and they fervently wished that it was as friends and not rivals.

They were surprised to hear Tenqhex as he began to laugh and as they turned around he had grown measurably. "I am much stronger now" he said, "Glory to the Old Ones"...

Glory to the Old Ones indeed.

2. THE VAMPIRE COAST

The Sun Gods were now reaching the edges of protected territory. Patrols kept crisscrossing the land but they seemed somehow edgier and were constantly toying with their weapons as they went about their task. The mangroves and swamps seemed to indicate that they were nearing the coast as they had been commanded in their sleeping hours and they marched on, glad to be traveling closer to their goal. Hexoatl loomed large in their collective subconscious but they were more than aware that they must proves themselves worthy of their destination.

As they entered a clearing after traversing yet another brooding, dank marsh they came in view of a smaller fortified temple. Guards could be seen on the ramparts and as they came closer they were challenged from above. "What is your business?" they were asked. Xholmundi answered in a clear voice that the team had been ordered by no less than mighty Mazdamundi to make their way to Hexoatl. There they would be allowed to discover what their destiny was. The sturdy gates opened and a grizzled warrior of many battles made his way out to greet them.

"You choose dangerous paths my friends" he said. "The land beyond this fortress is lawless and wild. Infested by pirates, vampires, rogue lizards and many others besides, it is not a land for a... a..." he faltered and then spluttered, "A fresh spawning? We have not seen the like in centuries!!". The Sun Gods looked around at each other. "Whatever does he mean Xholmundi?" asked Xholtoc but his captain only looked as bemused as the rest of them. He ventured that they were unaware of the number of spawnings in recent times and why was this mighty warrior in awe of them. The warrior replied, "Every spawning is made for a great purpose. We cannt speculate as to why and mustn't allow you to tarry. On the other hand" he paused, deep in thought, "We must see how prepared you are for what is to come".

He bellowed to his men and they came out on to what the Sun Gods now saw to be a roughly marked pitch. They prepared for the game and the match began!

The Sun Gods received and were quickly in to their patterns. The team managed to break through and get in behind the Lizardmen line with 6 of the Sun Gods players. The Lizardmen were caught unawares by the speed and athleticism of the Sun Gods attack and faltered, allowing their lines to become fragmented and separating their skinks from their brawny cohorts. The Sun Gods allowed some blocking to take place before scoring in turn 3 through Xholmundi, yet again.

They now moved on to the defensive. Again acting with alacrity, the Sun Gods managed to free the ball and Xholmundi burst through in to the backfield. However, the Lizardmen were well drilled and one of their massive warriors strode forwards and smote him to the ground. Scrambling, the Sun Gods managed to knock out some of the big warriors under heavy pressure but with the ball deep in their defence. Uaxtoc managed to break free and pushed one of the smaller scouts towards the sidelines where he was sandwiched between the scout and a rapidly closing warrior. Luckily, Zlatoatl was there to cancel the assist and Uaxtec was able to push the scout out of bounds. With no one able to score, a few desultory blocks ensued before the end of the half.

Kicking off again, the match lost some of its earlier structure. The Sun Gods kept attacking the ball but they were unable to free it from an unusually agile veteran skink. The skink managed to rush forwards but was left open. Tnqhex, the now mighty linefrog, made his way forwards and made the play. Using his smarts he decided that he could use his superior strength and armour to bring them both down, having lost his technique in the moment. The skink was carted off the field and Tenqhex lay there groggily looking up at the sky.

The ball was like a yo-yo, it went from end to end but neither team could make any real inroads. The best chance of the second half came to Zlatoatl who leaped free and tried a pass to the wide open Xholtoc. The ball dropped near to him but the Lizards were able to quickly recover and try one final assault at the endzone. Attempting a handoff the ball dropped and Xholmundi managed to free it. Leaping out of a pack of players however, he slipped and managed to knock himself out. But yet, the job was done.

The match was over with the Sun Gods victorious.

After hearty congratulations all round, the mighty Lizardmen warrior took Xholmundi to one side. "Enjoy this" he said "for you will find precious little succour in the regions that lie on the road to Hexoatl. Also, be warned that we have caught glimpses of wild warrior women on the coastal roads. They will be sure to make your journey a hazardous one." Xholmundi made his way back to the team. They were grateful to the Lizardmen soldiery. The average citizen had little idea of the dangers they faced on a daily basis. For that matter, the Sun Gods were soon to find out themselves...

The Sun Gods were on their guard as they began their trek into the dark and forbidding environs of the Vampire Coast. They had taken to heart the warnings of the isolated garrison but were fortified by their shared camaraderie and noble goal. So it was with mixed feelings that they followed the path that led inexorably towards Hexoatl and their auspicious meeting with Mazdamundi.

Uaxtoc and Kailoq were uneasy however. They kept looking over their shoulders as they could have sworn that they heard the occasional rustling coming from the undergrowth. At last they could maintain their composure no longer. They halted the team and turned to face the faint scrabbling noise that bewitched them so.

"Who goes there?" demanded Kailoq. "Show yourself!"

The noise began anew and they grassland began to part as something made its way towards them. The Sun Gods braced themselves as the grasses split asunder disgorging a....

"He is rather small isn't he? said Tenqhex as the small shape leaped lithely over their heads and landed in the middle of the party. Xholmundi gazed with awe at the interloper. A catcher? Here? Amazing how the Gods themselves appeared to look with favour upon their endeavour. Xholmundi began to relate to the others how the catchers were smaller Slann who long ago decided to maintain a life of secrecy and isolation. Not malicious, the catchers determined that they should keep to themselves and await the appropriate time to rejoin society in greater numbers. Rarely seen and famed for their agility, the catchers were highly prized by Slann teams for their uncanny ability to make their way out of what seemed to be hopless situations only to seamlessly merge into the undergrowth when they wished to be undisturbed.

"Aren't you going to introduce yourselves?" asked the smaller Slann. "I am Chimazda. I watched your match against the garrison and my people felt that you would be a team of destiny. Is this the case? If so, I would wish to join you."

Xholmundi's heart swelled with pride. This was a ringing endorsement indeed.

Chimazda, however, wasn't finished. "I saw some of those darker and more malevolent Elves down the path. It was strange. Usually I don't have any trouble getting away from anything, but these guys? They seemed able to stick with me like glue and it was only that I was able to leap into the trees that kept them away. "Fear not" stated Xholmundi. We shall treat with these Elves and see why they are so lost."

The met with the Elves down the path as promised. Languishing by a small lagoon the Dark Elves appeared to be completely sanguine by the appearance of the Slann team. "Ahhh, see I told you that the little one would reappear" said one of the Elves. "Now, toads... Let us have a friendly hitout. That should get our adrenalin flowing".

The teams lined up with the Sun Gods kicking away. The Dark Elf assassins had been sharpening their blades and swung into action. The Elves broke down the weak line and delivered the ball to an Elf who swept down the open sideline looking to score immediately. To their dismay, he fell heavily as he reached the end zone, seeming to trip on a small bump in the turf. The Sun Gods seized their opportunity. Creating a skirmish line, they managed to drag the ball into a secure cage and looked towards the end zone themselves. As Chimazda yelled encouragement from the sidelines, the Sun God blocked their way down the pitch. They were struggling with the Elves who wanted, it seemed, to be nothing less than shadows haunting the Sun Gods every move.

And yet, the Sun Gods were able to knock out a number of the Elves as they made their way diagonally down. Zlatoatl got a rush of blood and broke from cover with support being lent by Goqhui. The Elves attempted to hem them in but their runner fell to the ground as well and played no further part in the match. Xholtoc awaited reinforcement at the end zone and the Sun Gods stepped in to the end zone to make it 1-0 at the end of the 6th turn.

The players were happy with their performance at this point and as the last couple of turns of the half went by with nothing of note occurring they decided to give their new team member a go. Setting up deep and flanked by Xholmundi and Xholtoc, Chimazda awaited his first kick as a member of the Sun Gods.

He dexterously picked up the ball and ran to the middle of the field awaiting support to arrive... An arrive it did. Xholmundi had determined that the way to avoid the "shadowing" of the Elves was to leap out of trouble and his teammates responded. They formed another strong cage with the increasingly frustrated Mundiconqua being left as a roadblock for the opposition. After a mistake by the Elves, Mundiconqa lost his temper, lashing out and crushing an assassin that had been bothering him for the whole game. Chimazda broke free and was defended by the whole team as he sat near the end zone all on his own. A screen forming the protective barrier.

Another mistake led to Chimazda strolling into the end zone. By this time Zlatoatl and Goqhui had been knocked out by some heavy hits so the tea felt it was better to score and make it 2-0 some 4 turns into the second half. A nice kick forced the Elves to grab the ball near the halfway line right on the sidelines. The Sun Gods, through some clever bolcking, managed to get Xholtoc and Xholmundi next to the ball carrier. A tricky Elf who had the ability to sidestep everywhere. The Elves spent time trying to get Xholmundi away from their star but the agile Captain kept managed to skip into a square right next to the player. The Elves attempted to run back deep in their own half and try and extricate one of their attacking threats. They were unable to do so.

The two blitzers and Kailoq managed to hem in the Dark Elf and the Sun Gods managed to prevent them from scoring. It seemed closer than the scoreline the players were seeing but they were not going to argue with divine providence.

They allowed the Dark Elves to leave unmolested. Victory was enough for them this day. They shared provisions and pointed the Elves towards the coast where they may be able to find themselves freed of the oppressive humidity and be able to return to their preferred climes.

The Sun Gods congratulated Chimazda on his performance and he reciprocated stating that it was their defensive work that allowed him the freedom to break the lines.

With that, the happy squad continued on their way...

Exemplary fan/ team thread really! So much effort/ time went into this!

Keep us updated on schedules for important games as well. I might be a lousy fluff support but certainly would show up and support with important matches. Lets see how the Sungods will do with the catcher.

Good luck for Chimazda and the Sungods!

The Vampire coast.

Grim and foreboding, a dark sense of malice hung over the team as they plodded along the aged and decrepit path that snaked its way through dense and impenetrable jungle. Odd noises assailed them from all sides as they made their way towards Hexoatl. Long home to those of a more deranged bent, the Vampire coast was home to the near mythical Amazons, Human desperadoes and who knew what else? Evil was a constant background presence with their being little in the way of passing foot traffic. The players felt that they were being watched constantly and they remained on their guard at all times.

And yet...

The players were in reasonable spirits having had opportunities to consider the great task they were undertaking. Xholmundi walked with purpose leading the group which was becoming more and more comfortable with their capabilities, knowing full well that there was always room for improvement. Time was on their side however and they knew they would have opportunities to show their skills and hone their craft.

A patrol of Saurii was heading in the other direction and they slowed as the Sun Gods came alongside. "We have had word that you would be along shortly" said their leader, a massive and battle scarred Saurus. "We shall be camping here tonight. We would ask that we have a match and that you join us, for the jungle at night is no place to be low on numbers."

Xholmundi gratefully accepted their offer and the players took their places.

Kicking first, the Sun Gods noticed a skink who was unlike the others. Clad in ornate and descriptive light armour, the skink carried himself with an easy grace and economical movement. "Oh, I see you looking at Hemlock." said the Saurus. "He is a mercenary. Willing to help for the right price but he is certainly worth it. He has joined our patrol of recent days." Zlatoatl looked aghast. "Is that... Is that a knife??" he asked incredulously. "Yes" said the Saurus simply and the game was underway.

The Sun Gods had the Lizards under pressure early but Hemlock kept popping up in places that seemed to suggest he was one step ahead. Xholmundi managed to mark up the ball carrier, yet the accursed mercenary popped up and with a flash of his knife knocked him out of the game. For the rest of this match he would be a spectator. Xholtoc attempted to even the score, managing to hurt a skink but the opponents were too well drilled and managed to score.

Numbers beginning to run low, the Sun Gods managed to score themselves through Chimazda who was beginning to show great promise.

The second half was disappointment after disappointment for the Sun Gods. Struggles abounded as they were harried from pillar to post by the Lizardmen. As Xholmundi watched from the sidelines a voice came unbidden into his thoughts. "It is only through defeat that we may learn the value of triumph: the voice intoned and Xholmundi bowed his head. It was true. Luckily they were with comrades at this time so they could learn from their mistakes and develop themselves yet further in fulfilling the plan of the Old Ones.

The match drifted away despite the Sun Gods' best efforts. The Lizardmen scored again and put the game beyond reach. "Well played" Hextep told them and they concurred that they had been in good form during this friendly match. The players sat down to a simple supper with their opponents and found a new determination to achieve their goals.

As the light flickered and died, the players slumbered. Dreams of glory in their minds. Tomorrow would be a new day.

Something felt wrong.

Although the Vampire coast was clearly a grim, dark and benighted place the Sun Gods had felt little of the menace lurking in the underbrush just off the coastal road since they had left camp. And yet, there was something indefinable that had them on edge, uneasy of the way the shadows played amidst the gloom. Things lurked in the shadows they were sure, maddeningly out of sight except for the flicker that caught the peripheral vision.

As the Sun Gods rounded a bend they came in sight of a long abandoned village. The original inhabitants appeared long gone and a fort brooded as it watched over the still and silent hamlet. The players crossed a narrow wooden bridge when they heard deep and booming laughter. Concerned now, the Sun Gods easily moved into formation and slowly made their way through the constricted laneways tat made up the former residential quarter.

Then a voice like deep velvet, smooth and impossibly ancient could be heard addressing them. "We apologise for the lack of a welcome party. However, such mortal souls have not been seen in these parts for many a month. The last party that made their way through our fair town was privileged to join our worthy works"

Tenqhex murmured to the others. "These must be those vampires that the others spoke of. I have never encountered them before, have any of you?". The others quickly shook their heads as a tall and elegant figure made its way out of the gates guarding the decrepit keep.

"Welcome" said the figure. It smiled widely at them and they couldn't help but notice the sun glinting off oversize fangs. Xholmundi also realised as the figure came closer that while the smile appeared genuine, it did not reach the creature's eyes that were hard and devoid of warmth. "We have an arrangement for you. Defeat us and we shall allow you to pass unmolested. Lose and serve us for eternity. Ohhh... what am I saying? This is not a choice."

At his unspoken command a bunch of what appeared to be slaves made their way onto the rudimentary pitch supported by the lord of this village and two of his equals. This would be a difficult encounter.

The vampires won the toss and elected to receive.

The game began in a cagey fashion with the thralls shielding their lord who went to collect the ball with easy grace. A turn of blocking left four Sun Gods on the ground and they were angered to see one of the accursed slaves kick Hextep while he was down. This would not be forgotten! As the Sun Gods kept their line they were horrified to see one of the vampires break off from blocking to suddenly grab the thrall next to him and bite him on the neck. "What foul abominations" thought Tenqhex to himself as the vampires tried to make their presence known down the right flank.

As the vampires positioned themselves, Mundiconqua found a gap and powered through to hit the ball carrier who merely chuckled as he stepped away. But then the clouds grew dark. The Sun Gods attendant priest entreated the Old Ones to give him strength as a lightning bolt powered out of the sky and knocked the vampire down.

After some fumbling around by both teams the Sun Gods managed to knock out a vampire. Xholmundi collected the ball behind his protectors. After watching Zlatoatl break free, the Sun God's captain ran down field and passed the ball to the young blitzer. With the catch they were deep in their opponent's half. With several of the vampire players knocked out the Sun Gods ran down the clock with Zlatoatl crossing the line as the half concluded.

The Sun Gods received and made their way in towards the centre of the field where the reassuring bulk of Mundiconqua could be found. The vampires used all their guile to enchant the corners of the cage, but the Sun Gods breathed a sigh of relief as one of the vampires lost his feet and fell badly. Hurting himself and leaving the game.

As Chimazda sat and waited near the goal line with strong support, the Sun Gods attempted to corral the remaining opposition and keep them from making run at retrieving the ball. Some strong blocking from both teams had the vampires matching the Sun Gods hit for hit until one of their lords knocked out Kailoq. Having done so he fed again upon a poor, bedraggled thrall who slumped to the ground and had to be removed from the pitch.

The game degenerated. The vampires were knocking out their own players as fast as the Sun Gods could. They did some damage, knocking out Goqhui who had been quiet up to that point, but they were nigh on surrounded and the ball appeared safe. After a Xholmundi pass to Chimazda, the Sun Gods didn't wish to push their luck and they crossed the line with a short time left in the match. The vapires made a last forlorn effort to score but it was unsuccessful and the match concluded with the Sun Gods victorious.

As the team rallied around Kailoq who was still groggy from the earlier hit, they complimented him on his fortitude in returning to the match. As he began to speak, he slowly looked around and smiled. "I feel more alive than ever" he laughed and jumped up, flipping over and softly landing in front of his companions. "I believe the Old Ones may have great things in store for me". But the jocularity ceased as the vampire lord strode forwards.

The vampire lord inclined his head at the Sun Gods. "We shall meet again Sun Gods" he stated. The Sun Gods warily watched him as he cast his gaze over the assembled Slann. "Now. Begone from this place. My graciousness is not everlasting." And with that, the vampires appeared to vanish as mysteriously as they had arrived and the Sun Gods left via the coast road. Their momentous meeting coming ever closer...

They were getting close. They knew.

Their journey was leading them inexorably towards Hexoatl and their fateful meeting. It was not quite so grim and foreboding now as the thick undergrowth and towering trees were allowing more and more dappled sunlight to make its way through that tangled morass to the players who trooped along a long way below.

More and more were they coming across passing bands of Lizardmen who were running their own ineffable errands throughout the environs of the Empire. They were seeing the mundane travels of messengers, soldiers, emissaries and others who were the grease on which the wheels turned and the Great Plan was furthered. Word had spread and from time to time they would join with others on the road. Moving towards a date with destiny.

An organised group of Saurii with their skink attendants were making their way past the Sun Gods when they stopped. "Is this the famous Sun Gods we keep hearing about? The fabled Xhotl spawning?" asked the clear leader of the band. Xholmundi stepped forwards and baldly stated that he didn't believe them to have proved themselves worthy of such praise. The massive warrior nodded. "A wise attitude young masters" he said and then offered a match for the Sun Gods to test their skills.

The match agreed, the skinks marked out a rough and ready pitch and the players took their places.

The Sun Gods were joined by a lone linefrog who had been following them for days. The toss decided, Xholmundi offered to kick which was becoming a habit of the Slann, their game plan revolving around an attempt to score when on the defensive. The Lizardmen rapidly made their way down the flank with the Sun Gods scrambling to get players over. They knew of their disadvantage in strength so they were committed to attempting to stall the Lizard advance. However the organisation of the Lizardmen was such that they were able to make their way down the flank in tight formation. A stronger than usual skink handling the ball with great efficiency. After the young mercenary was knocked out, the Sun Gods found themselves 1-0 down after some 4 turns.

A problematic start indeed.

The Sun Gods received and were immediately assailed by the Lizards who moved into contact straight away. The team required some powerful blocking an they got it as Zlatoatl managed to smash a skink to the ground. The Saurii retaliated and the powerful skink in their retinue managed to free the ball from Chimazda. Chimazda recovered well and the Sun Gods were able to leap over the line with Kailoq holding the ball and covered by his compatriots. But it wasn't enough, a massive shadow loomed over Kailoq who groaned as his leg was smashed. Their priest rushed over and found that he had not suffered any lasting effects and would likely only miss a game at worst, so the match continued as the priest waited for his services to be required. With the ball surrounded, the Sun Gods were a kaleidoscope of action as they tried to retrieve the loose ball. Sadly, Xholmundi, under great pressure, failed to pick up the ball with little time remaining. One last attempt of the second half as Xholmundi leapt through the air but failed to get his hands on the ball.

The players huddled together breathing heavily. "A tough first half" said Xholmundi to Xholtoc. "Yes Brother" his friend replied, "But there is still a long way to go and we are receiving the ball. There is yet hope of a good result. Besides, we needed a good workout, we have been on the road for weeks without so much as a ball in hand."

The second half began in a difficult fashion, Catching the Sun Gods unawares, the Lizardmen followed up their kick and were on the attack before the team had the chance to move! The Sun Gods attempted to recover the ball but Chimazda knocked himself out attempting to leap away with the ball having snatched it from under the nose of the ever present skink guarding it. Xholmundi was caught unawares as the massive warrior he had spoken to smashed his jaw while he was unawares. This was something the team would have to work on he pondered as he left the field. Awareness was everything. A roar broke his reverie as the Lizards scored almost immediately after.

"Odd to score so fast", he said to the priest who nodded gravely. "I believe these Lizards are sending us a message. One that we would be wise to heed." The captain agreed as he settled down to watch the rest of the match. 0-2 one turn into the second half? It would be an uphill struggle. Yet they saw an error! In their desperation to chase down Chimazda, the Lizards left the way open and it was taken. Chimazda leaped over the guarding players and handed off the ball at the halfway line. Zlatoatl, Tihex and the mercenary found themselves deep in the opposition half in a solid position. Could the tide be turning?

Tihex managed to badly hurt another skink as the team took their limited opportunities to try and even up the numbers on the field. Sadly, as Hextep tried to break free he tripped on landing and badly hurt himself. He would take no further part. The skinks ran interference but the Sun Gods managed to score with Zlatoatl having an excellent game.

Still time to force a defensive score the team thought, their spirits soaring as they understood that the game was far from over. And a mistake occurred. A skink attempted to go just a little bit further and failed, tripping and spilling the ball. The ball spent several turns bouncing from player to player as an unsightly scrum formed around mid pitch.

Time was winding down...

Risks needed to be taken...

The mighty Tenqhex used his extra strong frame to push a skink onto the ball which popped out into open space, where Cuaqli saw his chance to be a hero. The unsung Slann picked up the loose ball. All he could see was Chimazda screaming for a pass. Wide open. Cuaqli closed his eyes as he heaved the ball forwards and Chimazda made an easy catch of the perfectly thrown spiral. The Sun Gods had done it! 2-2 in incredible scenes, the wounded and battered managed to make a scene before they all remembered why they were off the pitch and lowered their bodies, groaning, to the ground to see what would transpire. The Lizardmen having one more attempt at the win. The attempt at scoring off the kick was unsuccessful and the match concluded.

The Lizardmen and the Sun Gods shook and congratulated each other on a hard fought match. Lucky as they were, the team considered that perhaps someone had their eye on them.

They had a sneaking suspicion who that was...

Sea Serpent Grotto Gators 2-2 Xhotl Sun Gods
