Few questions first
How important is having an official league for drop in drop out matchmaking?
How important is having 2 divisions with differing mechanism for matchmaking?
How important is having the current Tourney structure intact?
We have several possible configurations for season implementation
1a - B&R both get seasons, tourney structure intact
1b - B&R both get seasons, tourney structure changed
2 - B gets seasons - R doesn't, Tourney structure changed for B, no intra division Majors or XFL
3a - Neither B nor R get seasons and a new division is created, N (for New). Tourney structure is changed and migration of teams offered. B&R Tourney structure remains intact but N teams have their own. N matchmaking houses both B&R matchmaking systems in one.
3b - Same as 3a but eventual sunset is placed on B&R teams.
4 - B&R merged into M (for Merged) and N created. Tourney structure of M condensed, N has its own.
Rollout possibilities:
A. N created with possible B&R integrated at later date if N proves successful with matchmaking function
B. M created immediately preceding rollout of N
C. Instant conversion of B&R to seasons due to current meta becoming unstable by a few bad actors
Pitfalls:
I. Some implementations will be harder than others. What seems straightforward to us likely isn't.
II. Userbase might be resistant to migration if they don't have to.
III. BB2016 Seasons have never been playtested with the constraints FUMBBL places on it so it might be a disaster that takes ongoing maintenance to get right.
IV. Tourneys will be impacted in some way and might function very differently in N than we're used to and could be used to alleviate some concerns.
