Since the client currently asks a game name before playing a match, I think it would be great to use a conventional game name (for example "box") for all the Box matches.
That would save the hassle of sending a PM to the opponent before every game.
Is it possible? |

Might as well add a "ranked" while we are at this, or just use a universal game name. I have been using "play" for all my games. |

If everyone uses the same game name, the server may connect you to the wrong opponent. |

Then what about "box[opponent name]"?
For example: "boxmattdakka"
To choose the coach's name to enter, just follow alphabetical order.
So, if I played vs Harad we both would write "boxharad". |

Not hard, but an extra step that could be avoided by using a conventional game name. |

In the example, why is it 'boxharad' and not 'boxmattdakka'? |

Because the "H" of Harad comes first than the "M" of MattDakka according to alphabetical order. |

So in the instance where coaches share common letters sequentially you proceed until you hit a difference?
Matt, I admire the effort to create a system but the dissemination of this system seems a taller order than just PMing the opposing coach ad hoc.
First, you need a significant buy-in from coaches on this which requires them to read the forum.
Second, you will have coaches unfamiliar with the alphabetical order of English who will invariably screw this up and then require a PM
Third, sending a PM is low effort and already a status quo that works. |

It's unlikely to find coaches that share many common letters sequentially, while is 100% likely to have to send a PM without using a conventional game name.
About being unfamiliar with the alphabetical order: well it's easy to find the english alphabet online, but, even if somebody ignored it and wrote the wrong coach name he should have just to write the other coach name.
There are only 2 possibilities, after all, not 1000.
About informing the coaches: a message could be displayed on the main FUMBBL page, in the place where majors are advertised, no need to check the forums.
You have to start somewhere if you want to create a conventional system. |

I think matt has a valid point. It would make things run a little more smoothly if it was automated. |
