Hi Guys,
Great site, what happened to the records? You know the ones, most casualties in a game, most kills in a game, most TDs in a game, most TDs in a game from an individual and all the rest.
They were a really great idea. I would like to see them make a return.

I loved the records. The most CAS in a game was something like 16, totally huge!
Ahh Huhh!!!!
I am leaving the building. |

I have never seen the records and I would love to see them, maybe if they can a tab in the stats section next to the top ten with all the records. |

i voted yes but now i have second thoughts.
if the reason that it is gone is to ease the load on the server then by all means dont put it back. but maybe a page where you can see all of em would be nice |

Surely it wouldn't take that much though? |

Yeah, I miss the "Did you know" bar too.

Thats right, I forgot the name. Could't take up too much space could it?

Ok.. Let's look at that for a bit..
Example: Most completions in a game.
Each completion is listed in a "player performance" table with a reference to a "match result".
To get the most completions in a game, we need to calculate the sum of completions connected to each match, sort them in descending order based on this sum..
The performance table currently holds about 250k rows, so you can imagine that it would take a while to group them into matches and sorting them.
The big problem with it isn't the number of entries.. It's the fact that the sorting has to be done using a temporary file which makes it slower than what is acceptable.
So, you see, it's not really as trivial as it seems... You should know that I do intend to do my best to reimplement the didyouknows at some point. It will most likely involve having some of them be recalculated once per day or something in order to keep it running smoothly.

Fair enough. A Did You Know updated once everyday or so is very good. Once every couple of days would make me happy! Whatever you can do!

Hmmm... how about compiling them off-line and updation once a week... no need for it to be in real time. It's just brain candy.
But either way... FUMBBL ROCKS!!!! |

Maybe I'm missing something, But couldn't you just calculate it once for all the games so far, store that in a file then do a comparison for each new uploaded report? Updating the records file if necisary? It would complicate each upload, but not much, and would save having to do the computation each time the record is displayed. |

Calculating it off-line sound great. Maybe you can install a scheduler that refreshes the "did you know" about every night or something. |
