You only need luck to win.
Great coaches are the ones that are fun to play against.

That's about it

If the coach bases his plans on luck, then he is a gambler.
In desperate situations though, bravery mixed up with a bit luck can bring the match back to you.

I to like to believe that there is a certain point of strategy in BB.

As Anaxagoras said: "Everything is in Everything"

Why should a good coach be able to play all teams?

If I win 80% of my games with Orcs and Undead why bother using anyone else?

I never use Elves, they're nothing but a bunch of 2 bit rent boys in tights!

That fact doesn't mean i'm not an accomplished coach.

That´s your opinion Renegade.

And I understand what you mean. I, for example, play good with Dark Elves but I still like to play with other races. I would never allow myself to play exclusively with DE just because I play best with them. It spoils the fun of the game.

A coach should not only understand a certain form of tactics but all other tactics as well. I strive to understand the whole game not youst a special aspect of it.

That´s how you control the game imho. Just my 25 cents.

Nordmark, I definitely think that a good coach should be able to pick up any random team and school a noob, but really..... What if he'd said 'flings instead of elves?

I define great as being fun to play against. Whether your opponent likes being given the boot, or you giving the hard luck sapp a touchback to get his player that 6th spp, or not picking perfect defence when up 4-0, are all things I pride myself on. I am able to adept my style to my opponents and still have fun for myself. I doubt I am on anyones do not play list. The worse thing I do is mayhbe run the score up a bit...

Tactics are important. Last night my star wolf ko's himself T-1 (all game) because I tried to frenzy a 6st ogre. Of course I did not set up the 2nd block well and ended up have -2d (skull- ko). Like afk said, when my star wolf was out and my star wight (from a niggler) I did not roll up in a ball. My zombies were used, my ghould became more important etc etc. Better tactics won the day for my necros (of course luck determined I now have 2 mng).

Macavity. Then I would have laughed. I don´t really see flings as a "team" as the others. They are the comedy of BB (them and gobbos). Fun, fun and a lot of fun. But seriously, please.

I know that I have now offended a lot of Halfling players and teams out there now. And for that i appoligise. I myself once had a Gobboteam with 230TR. They never won a game. But I have never had more fun with any other team while playing.

Flexibility is better than luck. I've seen lots of games where Nuffle was smiling down on one team and they were really lucky and the other team had average or below average luck and still pulled out a win.

As far as fling's go, look at this:

http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team&op=view&showmatches=1&team_id=146703

They haven't lost a game yet against a variety of different teams. So if you think luck is important, he's really lucky. But somehow I think that's more than luck.

The best chances for flings come when the opponent goes for timber and uses the core of his team trying to bring the trees down. This keeps your halflings on the pitch.
