Whats the verdict?.....i am interetsed in peoples experiences with and against them....seems to me that lack of skills to start with would make them a steep learning curve......

Nope. They are not good. No starting skills. Hefty nega-trait and thralls are plain bad.

Can be fun to play though if you do not mind a handicap before you even started the game...

I had a 6/4/5 Vampire team when I was a BAD coach.

Only thing is to start with 3 vampires and 5-6 rerolls. And do not buy any more Vamps until all three original have Pro.

EDIT:

Problem 1: the TR/TS calculation is tweaked for Vampires. So you often play "TS up" or you give away handicaps (and Virus can kill your team).

Problem 2: Thralls are ridiculous at Av7. They should be AV8 for the team to be any reliable.

It took me a few games to get used to them, but I don't think that they are a terrible team. They are good fun to play (as long as you don't mind killing your own players every now and then Wink). They certainly aren't the strongest team out there, and require a very different play style to most of the other teams.

I definately wouldn't recommend them to a new coach, but they are a quite a good team for anyone that wants to try something a little different.

Well, no tree halflings can make a go of it. Maybe I'll try these weird Vampire guys next time I have an open ranked slot. Weird, fun-based teams are better in ranked IMO.

But I seem to play teams with loads of vamps who never fail OFAB rolls.

Vamps are one of those 'knife-edge' teams. They're either amazing (when you're lucky) or pathetic (when you aren't). They'll never be consistent though, and certainly are not a team to coach if you're inexperienced with BB in general.

On topic.

As for Vampires, they are quite good if you can get the thralls a skill each. But unlike AV7 elves, getting skills on AV7 thralls is difficult stuff.
