I was just wondering why most people use port 8080 when they direct connect...why is it?

it's the one that's is set on default by the game launcher i guess

Because when the java applet opens up, that's the default port.

my client is usually set on 8081, which i use to connect through fumbbl's proxy...that's what it says when the client launches
