Hey everyone,
This is a site for everyone who is fed up of paying extreme prices on games workshop goods.
http://www.swhs.co.uk/
Games workshop pushed their prices higher this year, suposedly because of inflation. Well my wages didnt get put up for inflation so i looked for another way! 
Note: i have not yet had a chance to use this website however would like to hear feedback from anyone who has! |

I dont know what rules GW has. However the site claims to pay GW directly for the stuff so GW is losing no more money than It would anyway! So why shouldnt we reap the benefits! |

Paul, we aren't a GW appreciation society here.
Let's face it, JJ is pretty upset Fumbbl exists at all, we aren't in the business of keeping him and GW happy 
Having said that, GW are making money from any items it creates, even if they are being bought from someone else. So it's all gravy. |

Because Fumbbl has proven that people are willing to play Bloodbowl online, but it'd now be impossible for GW to develope a Bloodbowl online game that either costs money up front or subscription fees. |

I'm fairly sure it's impossible for them to shut it down. Firstly, the requirement that everyone own the boardgame to play takes care of a lot of the problems (all?). Secondly, Fumbbl is based in Sweden, which has no copyright laws. |

I suppose this shop works on the principle it is online, hence they do not have to pay all the various organisation figures and they buy stuff at normal bulk prices. Which should be much much less then what we pay in GW shops.
Always thought sweden had a very socialist core, grand thing! But is this true for everything or just for internet stuff woodpecker7? E.g medicines are covred by copyright or not? |

I'm not actually sure, to tell you the truth. I thought they had no copyright, but now that I think about it, it might be no Piracy laws. Does an actual swede want to tell us? |

Sweden got no copyright laws? That is actually hugely incorrect. We generally got the same copyright laws as everyone else. You probably got confused by the fact that it wasn't illegal to download or have copies of downloaded things here in Sweden. The law is kinda changed now but no one cares.
The client is legal becuase it's only a tool that can be used to play a game (which you still need to get the rules for). Fumbbl itself can use copyrighted trademarks like "bloodbowl" becuase there isn't any commercial intrest in fumbbl (ie Christer doesn't profit from it). |

I am sure that the lawyers would love a chance to argue this but I would be suprised if it were impossible to be shut down.
The requirement that everyone own the boardgame is not enforceable. Anyone can download the client and the rules for free.
I am assuming that bloodbowl is a trade mark of GW. Isn't it infringing GWs IP by recreating their game using their rules online?
The usual trick is to threaten to take the site to court. The site owner cannot afford to defend himself so kills the site. A big company can just drag out the case until the small guy runs out of money.
My argument is that it is in GWs interests to keep the site going as it promotes the game and so will lead to future sales. |
