I've made a custom soundpack. When installed (as files in %sounds%\original directory) it makes the game to be mute.
Are there any requirements the wav files have to meet to be played properly?
What classes does JBB use to play wav files?
EDIT: WinXP, jre 1.5.0_02-b09 as well as 1.4.0_03_b04 |

Why not simply use the mute option? |

The result of mute game is not what I want to achieve.
I would like to hear the sounds I put into soundpack. |

To work properly you have to create a folder including all new sounds, place the folder within the main sound folder.
When you want to switch to your sound pack, select it from the client tool bar.
If it doesn't work, bah, then maybe someone else will have the solution. |

What do you think I meant when I wrote:

In a past soundpacks put anywhere else than mentioned were not played. Maybe that's a legacy but it doesn't matter in that case.
I've got wav files that are not handled as expected. I need to know whether it is soundpack or jbbc issue. |

Don't understand what you mean.
But if you do as explained and have named your wave sound files properly, it should work. |

well im going to make a soundpack with various operatic masterpieces so when my Black Orcs are just standing about pushing at the opposition, it will play "Nessun Dorma" and so on....
but cant you just like delete your sound packs and then have no sound? Or am I missing something? |

Did sounds worked before you installed your own soundpack?
If affirmative it probably means that the new ones are conflicting with the original ones.
So delete them and check if it works again. Then try to install them again as explained. |

Yes everything works fine. I'm using the football sound pack with cheers sound extension. I can make the client play the original sounds but I can't make him play my soundpack. |

I would compare the data formats of the wav files ... i don't know if there are any requirements on sampling frequency, or on bits per sample, but that is about the only thing that I can think of that could cause issues.
Edit: I notice that the original ones are 8-bit 22050Hz samples .. try converting the ones you have -- if that works, then I guess you can play around with different formats to see which ones work. |

I suppose that as long as the sound file isn't a symphony but wav file, there will be no problem, the point is to name them as the original ones and place them in a folder belonging to the BBowl sound directory. |
