Hello Folks,
I need help in solving the following puzzle and would appreciate any additional brain power on the damn thing
All I can tell you is the A - J are numerical digits and when arranged will give a GPS co-ordinates. Solving the key is the problem. I was thinking time zones, but some answers give minus figures and that doesn't fit in well with GPS, haven't a clue what the figs in brackets are for.
So want to see if there's some sort of puzzle genius amongst us
--------------------------------------------------
N = A B.CDE
W = F G.HIJ
When;
A = Munich + London (3)
B = Los Angeles (2) + Sydney
C = Stockholm + Athens
D = Helsinki - Antwerp
E = Los Angeles (1) - Antwerp
F= Athens (1)
G= Rome - London (1)
H = St Louis + Paris (1)
I = Atlanta - Rome
J = Rome - Los Angeles (1) |

If I'm right the answer is
N = 3984 3984.580632121920
W = 1896 52.38043628
But I have no idea what it means
I'm thinking it has something to do with when the Olympics were held where in what year
A = Munich 1972 + London (3rd Time) 2012 = 3984
B = LA (2nd Time) 1984 + Sydney 2000 = 3984
C = Stockholm 1912 + Athens (all 3 times I guess 1896+1906+2004) = 5806
D = Helsinki 1952 - Antwerp 1920 = 32
E = LA (1st Time) 1932 - Antwerp 1920 = 12
F = Atehns (1st Time) = 1896
G = Rome 1960 - London (1st Time) 1908 = 52
H = St Louis 1904 + Paris (1st Time) 1900 = 3804
I = Atlanta 1996 - Rome 1960 = 36
J = Rome 1960 - LA (1st Time) 1932 = 28
I don't think it's right but it might help you somehow |

ahh think you are onto some thing there But not the format.
A typical GPS coordinates look like:
N 50 50.167 W 1 13.094
Or there about. But good work I think your correct about the Olympic connection |

It could just be the last 2 digits of the year
A. 72 + 12 = 84
B. 84 + 0 = 84
C. 12 + (96+6+4)106 = 118
D. 52 - 20 = 32
E. 32 - 20 = 12
F. 96
G. 60 - 8 = 52
H. 4 + 0 = 4
I. 96 - 60 = 36
J. 60 - 32 = 28
N = 84 84.1183212
W = 96 52.49660
But thats still not quite right |

hmmm, dunno.
I'm fairly certain that the first digits for North = 50 and W = 1
So that doesn't really help with solving the puzzle.
The two digits above are approx. where I live and the location of this GPS is nearby |

The numbers for CDE + HIJ need to be just one digit for each letter |

Well done guys between the two of you, you've solved my little riddle
It is indeed progressive numbers (Munich XX + London(3) XXX) = 50 |

Yep just not sure about C. the Stockholm + Athens, I'm guessing it's the 1st Athens Olympics as it doesn't make sense otherwise.
N 50 49.683
W 1 13.597
although the last 3 digits of N is still not right. |

Actually, you did all the work figuring out it was about Olympiads. You are the brain and I'm just the arm that completed it. |
