It was a thread that had it all: flame wars; Stunty teams; poor grammar; pie; and, of course, fouling. So very much fouling.

But not everyone has time to read through 14 pages of repetition for those nuggets of pure forum gold. Well, be calm, my fellow coaches: the Foulers' Digest is here for you! Condensed into a single (long Wink) post: nothing but top quality thoughts on fouling to be found here, from some of fumbbl's finest coaching minds (and shadow46x2 as well! Wink). Enjoy:

The post that started it all:

zatoc wrote:
My Dark elve team are pondering wheather to take a dirty player to put people off from fouling me, at present they just seem to get fouled whenever my opp wants. Would this be a wise investment in general?

Complied from this thread we bring you ... the categorisation of coaches by their fouling tendencies!:

1. Won't take DP.
1a. Won't take DP, and will never foul at all either!
1b. Won't take DP, but still uses tactical fouling for one or more category 3 ends.

2. Takes single DP for retaliation.
2a. Will foul one-for-one in retaliation.
2b. Once opponent has fouled, gloves are off and will foul as much as possible!
2c. Will use DP to retaliate to all kinds of personal dislikes: crowdsurfing, oneturners, blitzing a star ...

3. Takes single DP for 'tactical fouling'.
3a. Fouls to protect ball-carrier.
3b. Fouls to eliminate opposition Stars.
3c. Fouls to reduce opposition numbers.
3d. Fouls to eliminate DPs.
3e. Fouls to get a concession win.
3f. Fouls to get a +1 to FF roll.
3g. Fouls to see some first class whining.

4. Takes as many DP as possible!
4a. Takes as many DP as possible, and ignores the ball in preference to fouling.

Additional markers for coaches in any category:

* - Will Turn 16 foul.
† - Will make retaliation fouls even if on Turn 16.
¥ - Will foul every turn with Get The Ref.

Many thanks to all contributors, quoted and unquoted!

PS - Now we never need to have another thread about fouling ever again. Very Happy Razz

My Orc team are pondering whether to take a Thrower to put people off from throwing against me, at present they just seem to get thrown over whenever my opp wants. Would this be a wise investment in general?

The Pass skill is overpowered and should only be used by noobs and beardy gits.

Just noticed an example of the beauty of selective quoting: at the start I have JanMattys clearly stating his anti-fouling position; at the end it reads as though this has completely reversed and he has become an enthusiast for precision player-killing!

Hope you appreciate being misrepresented, Jan. Wink

Great thread.

Back in the olden days of actual Blood Bowl boards and figures, I presided over a league where we awarded a Most Violent Player award at the end of the major tournaments, meriting a 5 SPP bonus. This was specifically for the player with the most successful fouls.

When I was in brief correspondence with Jervis, he loved the idea and said he was tempted to bring it into his studio league. How much more of a pro-DP endorsement can you get than that?

PS. Yes, I know that was a long time ago, before half a million games were played on the web-ternet.

Guys...I foul...I LOVE to foul...but I do this mostly on the leagues I play in ral life!
Why I don't foul in fumbbl? because it's an eternal league...where the development of a team is more imprtant them the winning by itself!

I got to know that foulers are despised...and a dp in team is almost a "keep out" when you are looking for a recovery game or soon fumbbl!

If u ask me if I'll foul in a tourney...YES...and Yes again...but on fumbbl I try to keep the things low profile (with khemri exeption)!

But about Agrak reply I must say...let's create a team like those "pact" guys so we can prevent all the "Ubberness" of bb! We could even put a zombie, since it's so uber when it comes to fouling! =)

I tend to not foul in kiddy matches, but I'm an enthustiastic tactical fouler in matches where it counts. I hate DPs on opponent, so naturally I want to wield one of those weapons too!

This is not a cool thread though Razz
