Okay.

Tricky one this. Any advice/guidelines how to continue with these: Microchoir

I'd been with few players since a while, but so far had managed to stay up at 10 or 11 by buying linemen (and skilling them up to establish a basic core of players before buying av7 catchers again). Now the last two games saw even more deaths (mind you - playing elf teams that didn't have MBlow/Dirty Player or similar - whereas the claw, rsc guys did less damage).

(To top this - the -ma and -ag on the team is due to ageing rolls Smile ).

Where to go from here? What to buy next?

Update on page 4

Keep going with Linos. Eventually you'll get a few games without too much injury, and be able to recover, or you'll get low enough in TS to play against my no-tree flings! Either way, you win!

Forget the linos and buy positionals instead, that's my new way to go with elves (see the cannonfodder thread).

This comes more from my experience with Wood Elves, but it may be applicable: at that TR/TS level, Blodge rules - even if you hardly have any players. I would buy Linos and Lions (whichever you have the cash for at the time), and play with the Blodgers on the LoS so that the new players are better positioned to skill up. Despite the lack of numbers, you should be able to give most teams at that level a really, really irritating game. Very Happy

Also, challenge my Ranked Humans. Thanks to their stupid 'code of conduct' they can only match the number of players their opponents have on the pitch ...

nothing a few gold pieces couldn't help. Get a catcher so you have someone with nice movement and then a thrower who will hang out in the back field and you're good to go. The guards will make your team appear to have more players than it does and no niggles won't leave you suddenly shorter on valuable players....all great comeback potential.

I might drop a re-roll or even two to lower down the TR. You could face easier (as in softer or less Tackle-oriented) teams that way - re-rolls are no good if you have no one left on the pitch to use them.

As for the next player purchases....a catcher and a lineman, in either order? (just a hunch, I am no HE specialist) Then any kind of positional to become the 11th member in the roster.

Drop 2-3 rerolls so you can play some games where you significantly outskill the other team.

Dropping rerolls is complete madness: They will only lower your TR by 5 a pop and will be a female dog to replace afterwards. Playing supposedly easier teams is going to be offset by you losing due to the lack of rerolls, which means 10k gold less per game.

Retire the team and start again - they're rubbish!!! And I mean this is the nicest possible way....

Yar, dropping re-rolls is not something I think I should do. I usually need all of them even with a full roster - and the less players I have on the pitch the more likely it is that I have to do risky plays. Plus I don't have anyone with sure hands/pass/catch, so having re-rolls for that is helpful, too.

I have a "no retirement" policy. The teams I have (and I have more teams that I don't have fitting names for yet sitting around waiting to be approved) are what I'll keep. I am curious though - has there ever been a case on fumbbl where a team couldn't field any players at all (i.e. all available mng and not enough money to freeboot one)? What would be a "fair and reasonable matchup" in that case? Smile

So yes, they are certainly recoverable. What bothers me about getting a catcher is that they have neither block nor dodge, and a low av ... I'll have a hard time protecting it from hits until it goes up to 15 spp.

The two that are aged are LOS fodder, obviously. Thanks for the tips so far.

Oh ... forgot to mention that I also managed to get 0 winnings last match Smile.

It's all about the 9 FF...gonna make it very hard to pull out of the tailspin that you're in.

Good luck though!
