As per the front news item (link to be added), we are needing you coaches with a steady hand and creative mind to help create a range of new logos and banners for the Official Ranked Tournaments.

To see an example of what I am talking about, see this.

We are needing both the large banner to go across the top of a wiki page or group page (thanks SP0n for making my TNT logo idea into a reality), and also a smaller version to go in two column news articles like the ones in the above page (thanks momfreeek for the example XFL and SMACK ones).

In particular, we need new (or improved) logos for:

  • Ulthuan Invitational
  • Warpstone Open
  • XFL
  • FUMBBL SMACK
  • FUMBBL CUP can be jazzed up (eg a trophy or laurel wreath motif on one side)
  • ROYAL ROOKIE RUMBLE could be jazzed up (this is Bloodbowl, why the hell is the current logo pink!?!?!)
  • FUMBBL TOUR (new concept)

Whilst different fonts and colours are great, I would also like to see icons/motifs in the large banner if possible eg trophies, balls, pows, blood splatters, whatever! Another example, The Warpstone Open could have a trophy with a tentacle wrapped around it on one side and a shadowy skaven head with only three gleaming eyes visible on the other - use your imagination Very Happy

Ideally, I would also like to have community designed unique trophy icons (say 40x40) for each of the tournaments.

So coaches, open your MS Photoshop, GIMP etc and start working! Post your ideas, submissions, feedback and discussion in this thread.

To fit into the wiki format, the banners should be the following sizes:

Large banner:
542 x 106 pixels

Small banner:
265 x 52 pixels

Is there a limit in memory size, too? What about transparency and/or animation?

There is no limit on memory size. Always keep an unoptimised version so it can be suitably optimised later. Any images posted to the web should preferably be under 50k.

Transparency should not be necessary for the banners. Trophy icons will need to have a transparent background (without anti-aliasing). No animation please.

Memory size shouldn't be a problem. Anyway, the dimensions are given so it's kinda hard to approach huge memory sizes.

Transparency: I'm not sure if Internet Explorer still fails to handle .png partial transparency incorrectly... The more image/tech-savvy people probably know better. Other than that I don't see that transparency should be a problem (personally I prefer a good logo with a transparent background).

Yeah, IE can't do 32 bit ping transparency so anti-aliased transparency is not suitable for the web.

Nice man! Lets talk some more about the logo. You obviously have skillz and it is great that you have an interest Very Happy It would be great if we could work in a tentacle in there or something.

I've done some cup designs.

Ulthuan Invitational:

An elegant elvish cup seemed fitting.

Fumbbl Cup:
Image Image
A rather obvious world cup rip-off with the fumbbl logo replacing the world. I thought this was suitable for the biggest prize in the fumbbl world.

Any opinions/ideas welcome.. maybe some jewels on the UI trophy. If anyone has any ideas for the other trophies I'll see what I can knock up Smile

The GLT trophy should be a gobbo, upside-down (like smashed into the turf), maybe with the ball balanced on his feet or something. Or a helmet!

Great work!

I know they are the first draft, so am not being critical here. I like the designs and think you have done great. I just wonder about the colouring as the yellow/gold used make them look a bit cartoonish in colour/tone. Whilst our TNT logos and banners are cartoonish (love the Orc with the whip heh), I think the actual trophies for the majors need to look a bit more polished so they look less like gifs and more like a 'real' trophy? Not sure if that is possible though.

Re the UI trophy, how about having two handels and dropping the middle line, then you have a large open surface where you can put an Elven rune Very Happy

Now as for a Warpstone Open tropy, how about a statue/sculpture of a skaven/human/mailed hand from wrist onwards facing upwards and grasping a chunk of glowing green Warpstone?

Keep up the great work!

I did some post-production on the colours, added a few gems to the UI (aren't runes more of a dwarfy thing?..?) and made a warpstone open cup..

Ulthuan Invitational:

The black outlines will need some work, but no-need to worry about that yet

Fumbbl Cup:

Warpstone Open:

Colours looking better? Nice ideas for the GLT WalksInTheSun.. A gobbo with his face hitting the turf would look cool. More complicated than I've tried so far and tougher to get it to work on such a small scale.. I'll give it a go though Wink

May as well throw my own version in, only done the warpstone cup. (although personally I've always thought of warpstone as purple, not green, but the man wants green)
