A lot of coaches have been asking a lot of questions about the FUMBBL Cup 3, so I thought it would be helpful to put all the answers down in one place.
Where do I apply?
You DO NOT apply at the main group page. You apply at either the Swiss Qualifier page or the KO Qualifier page.

When does the next qualifier start?
When there are 8 valid applications in one of the qualifier groups. Hang around in #fumbbl_cup3 for updates on the lists.

What's the difference between KO and Swiss? Which is better? Which should I join?
The Swiss qualifiers are instant, meaning that all 3 games have to be played back to back, so it is all over in 5 to 6 hours. The KO qualifiers only have to be played at a rate of one game every 4 days, meaning that a single qualifier could take anywhere up to 12 days to finish. As you can see from looking at the qualifier pages, there are already 4 completed Swiss qualifiers, whereas none of the 5 KO qualifiers have finished yet. Basically, the Swiss is better if you can spare the time to play 3 matches in a row. The KO should only be for coaches who can't find a 6-hour window to play.

Why haven't I been accepted yet? Why can't I see the other coaches who have applied before I decide to apply? Did wuhan apply?
No applications are accepted for either type of qualifier until there are 8 applications and the next qualifier can be started. This is to stop coaches "cherrypicking" qualifiers. You have to accept who you play, no exceptions - even if it is wuhan!

Oh no, I got wuhan as an opponent! Can I get you to forfeit my game so I can apply to the next qualifier instead?
You can choose to forfeit your game, but if you do that you will not be allowed to enter any more qualifiers for FUMBBL Cup 3.

I lost my first Swiss qualifier match, do I have to play the other two matches?
Yes. You still have a chance to win under the Swiss system if you lose your first game, so don't give up. Also, winning your other two games will give you a big boost to your coach ranking. If you forfeit your games you won't be allowed to join other qualifiers - and if you quit after the first game you will probably be banned from other official tournaments.

If you lose all your qualifier games with K=6, you lose a lot of coach ranking points. Why are you punished so hard for trying to qualify for this tournament?
The FUMBBL Cup is the highest competition on FUMBBL, so while the rewards for success are great, there is a certain amount of risk involved as well. In any case, the K rating is based on normal rules for tournaments as calculated by the system used by the NAF and others.

Can I still play games with my applied team before the qualifier starts?
Yes, but see the next question.

Oh no, I applied with a team, started playing a game with it, but you put me in a qualifier so my upload didn't work! What happens now, I want that result to go through because I got three +STs and 120k!
That game is considered to be a "training game". You must tell your opponent before the game starts that it could be a training game. If you really want a preparation game and you're worried it might not count, ask a group admin to deny your application so you can play in safety, then reapply once you have finished.

Can I hire star players and wizards for qualifiers?
Of course!

I won a qualifier, can I play more games now?
Yes, up until the final knockout starts you can continue to play.

I got knocked out of a qualifier, how do I reapply?
You will be kicked out of the group soon. When you are kicked, reapply to the group of your choice.

Who are those teams in the main group page?
They are teams which have won qualifiers.

How often is the FUMBBL Cup played?
In the past, it has happened whenever the admins have gotten around to it. However, Christer has said that he intends for there to be a lot more official tournaments in future, so watch this space for further announcements after the FUMBBL Cup 3.

Further Q&As will be added as questions come up.
