Having an issue with the Fumbbl client...
Hey, so it was suggested that I post something here re my client issues. Basically following a rapid reintroduction to blood bowl my fumbbl client now seems to be infested with gremlins. I can load to view/spectate a game fine but once it opens it freezes after one 'click' forcing me to force close it via task manager.

As i mentioned it happened quite suddenly and confusingly enough was working fine before (albeit briefly! I'd only played two games). So far I've tried reinstalling Java, restarting my lappy, messing with the Java settings, and reinstalling a slightly older version of Java all to no avail. Anyway someone suggested I post something here to see if anyone else had had a similar problem. Thanks in advance!

Oh and if its relevant I'm using the latest version of Windows (8.1) and the latest of Java (build 1.7.0_45-b18). Finally in a latest update it did inexplicably work (ish) very recently! It seemed to load-up fine only to hit me with the 'wrong password' message. I tried reloading it but seem to be back at square one now...

This does seem like its more an issue with very long loading times though

Again any ideas would be welcome!

Make sure you are logged into site before trying to spectate (im sure you are but I have found that you cant spec even public games unless you have logged in) Windows 8 - no clue sry

Not sure if this helps, but it sounds familiar. I've had similar issues on the wifes pc, and I narrowed it down to the antivirus virus she had installed (AVG). I turned it off while loading the client and it was fine.

the wrong password thingie is indeed a kind of timeout, if there is a long (ish) time between the click on the website and the click to close the welcome message in the client.

the original problem...no real idea, as far as I know there are no known problems with win 8.1.
some known general causes for problems with the client were:
- sound (but that was mainly in linux) -> disable sound in the client
- faulty network driver (shouldn't really be a problem with win 8.1 and somewhat new / common hardware) -> search for new network driver
- unstable internet connection / other problems with networking
-> check router for errors
-> check if there are soft/hardware firewalls in use and may interfere

It sounds to me like a sound issue (<---humor). If you have no speakers/headphones going then the client will crash often. If that sounds like you, then you can "fix" this by disabling sounds in the client, or making sure you have headphones plugged in and all your sound stuff is setup correctly.

Also, welcome to the site!

Might be anti-virus or firewall problem. Something that prevents communication or parts of the program to run properly causing a crash.

I'm using win 8.1 and latest java with no trouble. And I don't use any 3rd party anti-virus/firewall software, just windows own + firewall from router.
