"This is Blood Bowl..."
This is going to sound like I'm whining because I'm a sore loser, but honestly I'm infuriated to the point where I need to blow off some steam and get this off my chest.
I just conceded a game for the first time ever to an opponent whom I shall not name here -- but if you go back and check my match history you should be able to find out. I have never had less respect for an opponent, nor have I ever enjoyed a game less, than the fiasco that just happened.
I do not mind getting beaten (well, aside from the fact that I lost). My record will show I'm no stranger to losing.
I do not mind having to replace players due to casualties.
I do not mind having to retire a team for the same reason.
What I definitely DO mind is an opponent resorting to excessive fouling to further whittle down an already undermanned team -- especially when the opponent already has sizeable advantages before the game starts.
Now, I know this isn't "Chutes and Ladders" we're playing here. I'm okay with an opponent making the occasional foul. But there comes a point where fouling becomes unnecessary; just such a point occurred in this match where I was down to only TWO PLAYERS ON THE PITCH -- and one of them goes down to a foul!
All of his players are on the pitch, and one of them is adjacent to the end zone with the ball... and yet he finds it necessary to foul one of my two remaining players even though there's no chance of stopping the ball carrier. Had the casualties come as a result of blocks or sideline pushes, then I wouldn't be complaining.
And what is this person's reply when I comment on the excessive fouling at halftime? "Sorry, but this is Blood Bowl." What is his reply when my 2nd-to-last player goes down? "Sorry, but this is Blood Bowl."
Maybe that's HIS version of Blood Bowl... but not MINE. Where I come from, we have a bit more respect for our opponents. This is decidedly NOT the way I will be teaching my son to play when I introduce him to Blood Bowl.
Am I whining? Possibly... but I needed to vent (and I already feel a bit calmer). But just a word to anyone who sees my teams on the Gamefinder list -- if you like to play like my opponent did, then please don't bother contacting me.

It may indeed be whining, but if it is, then I'm guilty along with you. Fouling is a perfectly valid tactic to gain an edge, hold onto a lead, or get back into a game. But it is just being a jerk when a person is already up by 2 TDs, has a significant advantage in manpower (I'd say 3 or more) and fouls to remove players when he could be blocking or even crowdpushing. I've had similar experiences and it makes me see red, just like it did to you. The ONLY possible reason I could see for this kind of fouling is if you play in a league where you are going to face the same opponents again in the future. And the danger with doing it there is that other people in the league will retaliate, so it sort of keeps everyone in-line and well-behaved (for Bloodbowl players). This is why I had playing random Ranked games in gamefinder. I talk about this in my bio (I call them Team-killers!). Good post, now you made me vent steam I didn't even know I had built up.
