“As Wotfudboy writes, a much harder game than I expected. I was supposed to just sweep in, hammer those ghouls, stake those mummies and win it with a secured 2-0 something, but somewhere things turned out worng.
Gary Moore was turned into a super ghoul thanks to some drugs, and WFB made him to a natural ball carrier. I managed to chase him down in the first half, and could score to 1-0 in the defense. I didn't expect the undeadies to score in just 3 turns, but Gary Moore got the ball in round 7 and went deep into my half. I blitzed him down (needed one RR), but the scatter was pretty bad, and since I didn't break armor, I needed a tactical foul to get him out of play. One GFI, tripped, and Moore could score in turn 8, bummer.
Two of my players niggled in first half btw and Zara spotted by that ref! Bummer, and down to 11 players.
Second half and hammer time! Oh no, United got perfect defense and tied up most of my players. I did some ball protecting stuff instead, and in the next turn WFB did his biggest (and only?) mistake in the game. He sent out Gary Moore on a solo mission to blitz my dp, which of course backfired. The dp lived to see the next turn, and planted her spikey foot deep into Ghoul crotch and Gary Moore was out of the game.
I made it slowly to midfield where things suddenly slowed down, thanks to some bad blocking and suddenly my solid cage was surrounded and Mimmi was knocked out. I quickly sacrificed a goat to Nuffle and praise the lord, WFB rolled quad squlls when he was trying to bend up the cage.
This was pretty much the game winner for me. Klarabella could easily find a big hole in the defense and run almost out of reach. A few rolls was still needed to get that winning TD, but Nuffle was with me in the end game and Cartonettes made it to the final (as expected).
A very tough game and thanks to Wotfudboy who played really well, and made it really tricky for my superior team to advance to the final. Cartonettes to the final again and we're facing Norse in the final this time, a team that conceded 6 casualties in the semi but lost no players compared to my 3 casualties and 3 players down. Boo.

The handicaps I got were Palmed Coin (at least the mummies would get to throw one block each at least!) and Illegal Drugs (gave gary Moore +STR to make him a 7/4/4/7 stat players with Block, Dodge and Sidestep. He would be my stand in star player!
From the very first block it looked good for me, with Bono III SI-niggling one. And then it went a little pear shaped, and SSBob scored. But somehow I equalised with some better luck.
Going into the 2nd half the ref spotted Zara's stakes and ejected her... and with the mummies having done some damage too the Amazons only had little spare when 11 players had to line up... and with a perfect defence in my favour things looked stacked against the zons.
However, Gary Moore was exposed and put to the floor and the uncermemoniously fouled and BH'd... at this point the game froze for SSBob and a reload was needed. After instructing SSBob exactly where his players were we got underway again.
The undead seemingly were getting the upper hand, until double skulls on a block... That's not terrible news though I thought... I'll reroll them... Double Skulls... D'oh!!!!!!! At this point the defence fell apart, and the zons swarmed over the undead, and the game was a for gone conclusion.
It was left to some desperate play to even get near the ball carrier, but all we could do was rely on double 1's or skulls for SSBob to lose... and he rolled good dice... the game was lost.
Sideshow played a good game but his team is a little depleted for his encounter in the UMT playoff final against a team I had already beaten in my group!.... grrr. Should be an interesting final. Thanks Sideshowbob for a challenging game. I thought I would lose it before we started, but to get so close to winning it only to be cruelly denied will ache in the lifeless heart of this undead coach! :-)”
