“ What a way to Start the new season for the WDDs. Snatching a victory against 3 time champions Zen Adepts with only a bare 10 players. The Woodies showed their intent early catching the Adepts offence on the back foot. Devon managed to Grab the kickoff and run in the First TD of the game while Disciple Shariputra was busy tripping over his shoes!
The CDs mananged a better offence the 2nd time round getting over the half way line before the Woodies got a lucky break. Holmsy managed to pump the ball loose and in to the crowd. It fell into the hands of Daxy (who was missing the game through injury) who promptly passed the ball to the on rushing Devon. With no Chaos Dwarfs left in their backfield Devon had time to offload to Toshiba who scored on Debut!
The 2nd half saw a much more Spirted effort from the Adepts and Abahya managed to cscore quikcly to make it 2-1.
With plenty of time left on the clock and the WDDs running our of players the game was still in the balance. The Woodies needed a quick TD to try and kill off the game. A bad kick saw the ball end up in the crowd and during the kerfuffle trying to retrive it Devon managed to sneak into the offencsive half. Before you could say Pass the Foot Long Sausage with the Extra BBq sauce, Toshiba had thown to Devon who had crossed for 3-1.
With the game now theirs the Men of Wood played a game of run away from the Manical Stunties. With little to no resistance Ryushin crossed for a consolation just before fulltime.
Woodies Double Double Management would like to take this time to deny the allergations of Bribing the Match Official who had sent 3 Zen Adept players off. Investigations into the Referees new Villa in Woodies Heartland of Eastwood are still pending.

3pts: Ryushin - Any Hobgoblin who throws the most blocks in a match deserves the maximum reward.
2pts: Abhaya - Had a good game on both offence and defence. The Medicos did a good job on his first half injury
1pt: Tetsugyu Concentration - Did not do a whole lot this game but his speed made him a constant threat.

The nervous energy worked against them however as their attention on the kickoff was elsewhere, allowing the agile elves to get a jump. A mistimed block allowed the levs to open the scoring with the speedy Devon.
The ensuing drive went a little closer to plan, but a huge block on Tetsugyu Mindful opened a hole in the cage and the ball went from the crowd straight into an elves hands. angain their speed meant the Adepts could do nothing but watch, and maybe bash a few slower elves over the sidelines.
The 2nd half was won by the adepts 2-1, with WDD quickly running out of players. But they had enough left on the field to score the stay-ahead TDand so the final score was 3-2 to the elves.

3pts: Devon: This speedy little pseudo one turner was the real difference in this match, with too much speed for the slow CD to cater for.
2pts: Holmsy: Versatile Woodie who's stripball was a menace when we had the ball.
1pt: Jenny B - Hard to move. even harder to knock down. had she been removed earlier in the game the Adepts would have had a better chance of winning.
