#11 Quokka #3 of the Apocolypse – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#11 Quokka #3 of the Apocolypse – Smashed Knee (NI)
Well, at least on paper it looked to be an easier match than the last few bloody death-laden matches, but one should never underestimate the Patrician.
The first kickoff was a blitz and the lazy setup allowed a dark elf to run around the unprotected wing and position himself under the ball to take the kick cleanly. Every hit on the ball carrier either came at the cost of a 'both down', or for the ball to scatter into the hands of a nearby DE. And then Pat made a fatal mistake in the positioning of an assist and the ball was freed! From there it was a slow crawl to the line more akin to dwarves ("sure" hands? hah!), with the most experienced GR eventually breaking free to score on turn 8.
The 2nd half started off more promising with a quarterback sack, but this counterattack was blunted with the dreaded double skulls-reroll-double skulls. Some fast gutter runner action stopped the stalling tactics and forced a 1-1 draw with 4 turns to go and a kickoff to receive.
The next kickoff was a horror with the backfield rats unable to pick the ball up and just running around in circles until the DE strolled through and scored. That left 1 turn with an impossible TD to score - but with the Quick Snap it was suddenly all on! However a misclick moving a GR caused a brainfade and an attack on the line with the wrong player. The poor GR standing 1 square short, while the GR with Very Long Legs was standing idly by :(
It was a terrible game for simple luck like ball-pickups, gfis and handoffs, but at least it was even bad luck for both sides. Note to self: Don't lose concentration when the rolls are bad, especially when playing someone like Pat.

#3 - Thousand Cuts - darn bugger was everywhere
#2 - Thumbscrews - as above, just less so :)
#1 - The Rack - long running pickup and TD at the end.

2nd game for the Picnic and our handicaps were all about rerolls - extra training and Doom and Gloom ensuring a 4-1 difference in the first half.

We started off ok, pushing forward and getting the ball down the backline. Jezza responded with the tight defence and a slip up by Pat in positioning allowed the double skulls to ruin our advance. We tried to stop the slippery rats pushing forward, but despite sacking the ball carrier a number of times we couldn't stop Tunnels from scoring on turn 8. 1-0. Oh, and our chance to hit back in Turn 8 was abysmal. Not one rat went down.

2nd half and a perfect defense was truely ugly to behold. However, we managed to slip past and stall a little, only to have the truely annoying Gutterrunners nearly steal the ball. Note yea opponents, Jezza does use these well. However, luck meant we kept the ball and scraped through for the equaliser. 1-1. And somewhere in there a failed Apoth didn't help Jezza at all.

Final push and a doubledown stalled Jezzas reply. We took advantage to press forward and tied up the GRs and thrower. The ball must have been slippery as Jezza just couldn't pick it up. He tried to move it foward but his throw failed. We then called on nuffle to allow us to blitz a TZ away, grab the ball, dodge and then pass to a receiver. 2-1.

But the game didn't end there. Jezza had a chance for a 1 turn TD...but unfortunately gave it to the wrong rat. His 1 die blitz managed to knock down a player in the 1 turn defence we put up, but even with the Quick Snap, the rat was 1 move too short.

2-1, +FF and 70k. The Picnic are quite happy. Now if everyone else would stop forfeiting so we don't get Promoted! Thanks for the game Jezza, you kept the pressure on and used those rats with great precision. Good luck in the rest of the season.

#3 - Tunnels - annoyingly fast GR. He got the TD and raced around the place giving assists where needed. Will be even more of a handful in the future.

#2 - Bliven of Geordie Bay - That guard was very annoying.

#1 - Quokka #2 of the Apocolypse - did the most hard hitting work for the team.
