Lustrian Qualifier match 2nd round:

Only 3 elf team out of 128 entered the Cup so having a total pro elf showdown was really unexpected, but we had it.

I had to face a superior team, no doubts.
Being an experienced pro elf player I know how deadly the NOS - dump off combo could be, but facing a NOS - dump off - safe throw passer is even harder!!! That was the key for Nobel Laureates success (as it was in many GLT matches I think).
As far as the game was all about elfball (all the 1st half) my team had the skills to score, so we entered 2nd half on a 2-2 result.
But with Nobel Laureates receiving, coach malitrius did the right thing and started the dump off - nos - safe throw - catch and everything else clinic.
The task was made easier when 3 of my elves went KO on first turn.
Anyway, Score More leapers blitzed many tiems the dump offers (especially the thrower) but the only time they failed the dump off catch the scattered ball went straight to another catcher's hand :)
Nobel were able to play that tactic till the last turn, they got some cas too in the meanwhile, where my elves failed miserably instead (and I got some pows too).
3 side steppers on the los made the eventual 1 turn push impossible and the game ended with my first cas (ehehe, love you nuffle... :DDDDD )

I enjoyed the game even in the loss, malitrius knows how to play the skilled pro elves and deserved to win.

-----------------------------------------------
Now a complaint about strict rules:

Yes, I played my first turn vs some nasty orcs, I won on a coin toss and incredibly without suffering injuries.
Malitrius had a bye on his first round so he went to play me with a full team when he had to face instead an undead team (with 390.000 on the bank!!!!) on the 1st round.
Some days before I asked him about the match and he told me that he could play in the weekend (deadline was friday at midnight)
I told Angie about that, adding that I really preferred them playing the match instead of giving a bye. Angie told me that he couldnt force deadline even for just 1 day.
So, even with my consent for a delay (I was the interested part on it), the game was forfeited to malitrius.
I'm rather sure he would have won anyway but surely suffering some damages. That ruined the fairness of our match a bit.
I'd like administrator to be a little more flexible in situation like that.

Update after malitrius post

The complaint was only against the forfeit, not against you ;)

I wrote last sentence "I enjoyed the game even in the loss, malitrius knows how to play the skilled pro elves and deserved to win" so I agree about who has to get 2nd round ;))

I didnt know about Manbush problems... now that I know... bah, why entering a Major if you can't play the games... anyway undead with 3 dirty players, count, 2 mummies (he would have buy a fresh one) could do some damages especially when you can roll 3 die set on the los players.

To clarify for the last time, the complain was about the forfeit and not about your win or anything else :]

Nice game, thanks for it. Gary_Gygax summarised it well. Neither one of us was more lucky then the other. Nice fun coach that swears well in Italian:).

Now about the complains:

I thought the deadline was on monday... but well when I realized it was not, I could play on friday. I'm a confused type of person, but its Manbush responsibility too to know the deadline. Manbush couldn't play at all, he never gave any suggestions whatsoever of when to play. Manbush did ask for a forfeit in my favour, so I dont understand the deal here. Would you have prefered that Manbush forfeited two games in a row. He was not able to play the second round.

... and if we would have played. I would have liked to play the game too. The only thing that would have happened against Manbush would be that I would have skilled up my players even more. Having no (maybe one) tackler, wiz, one mummy and a Count wouldnt have changed nothing damange wise. My team was far too superior for him.

Yeah its not fun loose, I know the feeling. All the expections of meeting a beat up elf teams are just shattered and its even more boring when its on a forfeit. I can understand that mate:).

However, I dont think its unfair that I got to the 2nd round.

Hehehe, yeah it was a fun game. See you for a rematch after the major, I'll probably need it! Those nasty dwarves gotta find our home pitch some day ...

Good luck with the team! See you for a rematch and be sure to bring a thrower with dump off that time:P
