Pride FC - round 1:

The crowd came and cheered and booed...and left after the first quarter. They realized that the chaos's claws were not sharp...certainly not razor sharp. And the elves were leaping without fail and stealing the ball...it was one of those games where everything went right for one side and everythign went wrong for the other. After receiving the ball...the elves scored in 2 turns. Then with a leap from wasp and a successful 1d block, they scored 2 turns later...then a blitz on the kickoff and the elves score again. By turn 5, it was 3-0 and it was already over.

Thanks for the good sportsmanship by our opponent, it was an interesting game, but truly some horrid dice for the chaos. Nothing special about the elves - they got the good rolls every time they needed them and the chaos got nothing.

I have long contended that this is an extremely poor team build. However, 1 Claw/RSC and 3 other Claws on the roster mean that in open [L] play, it's pretty darned hard to prove. So when the Pride 'Super Heavyweight' division opened up it's doors to TR 200, I thought, why the hell not. At TR200, I expected to be defeated by guard/MB AV9 type teams in a classic 2-1 style. I expected to be fouled from the pitch by regen. But I expected to give it a good go with 100k ready to go on a star or a wizard, and the kill skills might win me the day if I played well and got lucky.

When I saw from the draw that I'd gotten Pro Elves, I kinda had a mixed feeling of joy (ooh - AV7, mmm) and horror (O Crap, I have zero skills to combat blodge, Leap, AG5 Elves, where's mah Orcs?!). But I expected the game to pan out thusly; I'd lose 3-1 ish, something like that, and my kill skills and a Nobbla hire would make things fun and maybe closer if I got some early CAS. That was with even dice!

I think it's fair to say that the natural winning roster of Azure, together with his excellent coaching against bashers was enough to win the game. The 6-0 came from Nuffle rubbing it in. I won't go all emo on you, but it's fair to say that 1dbs everywhere, leaps, scatters, even CAS dice were all with the Pro Elves this day. Still, 6-0 is pretty damned embarrassing. Every time I set up I hoped to get something off of the pitch, but by a T4 blitz! when I was already 2-0 down, my brain just shut down,a nd I expect my coaching went to pot.

Grats to Azure, and the very best of luck in the rest of it. I would imagine the 6 bashy teams remaining will be easy prey for a good Elven 11, the only hope for the bashers is that that damned armour breaks at some point. ;)

See you next time, and thanks for keeping a fun atmosphere.
