#11 Bland Pizza – Smashed Knee (NI)
#11 Bland Pizza – Broken Ribs (MNG)
The second game of the forced teams tournament featured the first clash between the Mediocre Madmen and the fearsome Four leaf Clobberers. It was the ogres first game of the tournament but they certainly didn't look nervous as they stomped and roared onto the pitch. The Madmen on the other hand came out quiet but confidant. They had won their first game convincingly and they were looking to do the same here and seal their place at the top of the standings.

The confidant looks quickly faded from the madmen on the LOS, each of them had an ogre towering above them just waiting for the cue of the whistle. And as the ball sailed over their heads and into the hands of some backfield goblin they attacked, and, unsurprisingly made quick work of humans sacrificial lambs. Things weren't going so well behind them though. The goblins had failed to do their part and get the ball, as tiny Debra Messing watched it bounce away from her the madmen made their move.

The LOS hadn't went all the ogres' way, Princess didn't notice the game had started so the lucky lineman in front of her remained unsquished. Seeing the lucky break he and The Grey Ghost dashed past the nonchalant ogre and into the backfield. Meanwhile Gordon Brown jumped into the Clobberers half, threw their goblin winger to the ground and trotted merrily back into position with a big smug grin.

Finally Messing got the ball in her hands, and upon seeing the Madmen coming her way swiftly got rid of it again by hurling it to Admiral Timekeeping on the non Gordon Browned wing. The ogres quickly...quickly for ogres anyway closed around him, even Princess realized what was going on and joined the ogre block. The only ogre not involved was Duchess, all the way on the opposite wing she was far more interested in swatting at Gordon Brown and Captain Excitement than whatever was going on elsewhere. The Madmen Closed in around the ogre cluster and a small gap allowed Goldberg enough room to clatter Timekeeping, after which the poor goblin had to be drug off the field. The rest of the goblins looked on in horror...they had felt safe with so many ogres between them and the Madmen. But there was one of them surrounded by the brutes and he still got mangled. The Madmen had struck a blow, not only was the ball loose but morale in the Clobberer camp was starting to drop...apart from in one goblin. Messing wasn't about to let all her hard work grabbing that ball go to waste, before any of the Madmen could fight their way through the ogres she was on top of it. Shame though, her vigor was wasted as once more it bounced away from her, this time the humans fought their way through the mass of ogres and the ball found its way into the hands of Malone who swiftly fired the ball off to The Grey Ghost still lurking in the ogre backfield, with no defense on him it was an easy touchdown.

The next drive saw a daring move from the Clobberers, Sweetcheeks grabbed the ball from the kickoff and was promptly launched deep into the Madmen's half. It would have been an amazing comeback, he landed just meters from the line, but the throw was high, he came down hard and he couldn't keep upright or keep the ball in his hands. While Major, Malone and Ghost fell back to cover the ball the rest of the madmen pushed forward. Brown forced a gap in one wing with Skree and Siebert following him through the hole while Goldberg went ogre hunting, he only managed to drive Duchess back but even that was an accomplishment as far as he was concerned. The goblin hurling continued with messing being thrown deep into the human half to try and put pressure on the ball (which Malone now had) the poor goblin came down head first though and lost consciousness. Dutchess Elected not to fight brown and instaid drifted back catching scree completely off guard, an ogre punch to the back of the head would knock anyone out and Skree was certainly no Exception, the ogres' fans cheered, finally things were looking up. thats what they thought anyway. The catcher swatting had left Goldberg wide open, Malone made a quick offload and he made a beeline towards the Clobberers end of the pitch running right through the goblin Hotlips, the only one smart...or stupid enough to be in his way. Just before he Scored the Clobberers made one last spirited effort at defense, yet more flying goblins, Cogsworth unlike those before him landed perfectly but he was no match for Goldberg who simply swatted him way and crossed the line.

With the First half almost over the Clobberers were already 2-0 down, but the game was far from finished. Messing snatched up the ball and the goblins flew once again, this time she landed perfectly...could she turn the game around...no. She landed but the Madmen were wise to the move by now, before she could even shake herself off Major, Ghost and Malone were on her, there was nothing she could do besides curl up and hope it didn't hurt too much. The humans simply passed the ball around their backfield and ran out the last few moments of the first half. Well...all except the final moment, Messing, still curled on the floor was...creatively removed from the game.

The Clobberers defensive lineup at the start of the second half was an interesting one, two ogres had been dropped back from the LOS and were deep in backfield, it was a message to the Madmen attackers, come through and this is whats waiting. Only one ogre made for a weak LOS though and the humans muscled their way through on both sides removing another goblin from the field in the process. Unfortunately for the attack Malone failed to pickup and before the ball had even settled on the ground there was a goblin flying towards it. It was here that perhaps the Clobberers lost their discipline, the loose ball prompted the backfield ogres to move forward leaving human catchers and blitzers totally unmarked and the line unguarded. what followed was a scramble. Hotlips the previously flying was brought down by the human defense and Malone snatched the ball and rushed up to try to take advantage of the open catchers, he was met coming the other way by the rather large Wumpinks, luckily his teammates were with him and between the three of them they brought the charging monstrosity to the floor. Malone moved up again and horribly fumbled his throw dropping the ball uselessly at his side. Duchess who had until now been pounding on Major tried to get her hands on it but simply batted it away. Major took advantage of Duchesses distracted state, picked himself up and swiftly speared her in the back. With the ogre now off the ball Malone scooped it up again and made a simple hand off to Skree who ran it over the line. 3-0.

The next drive began with Sweetcheeks catching the ball right off the kick and moving up to the ogres on the LOS. It was looking to be another attempt at a goblin toss but Human blocks followed by ogre retaliation resulted in what can only be described as a mid pitch punch up...which of course the ogres had going their way without much trouble. But when time came to actually throw Sweetcheeks the unfortunate goblin was fumbled and knocked unconscious. Siebert and Major assisted Goldberg in knocking Fluffkins away from the ball and the blitzer grabbed it and set off for the line once more. Somehow though fluffkins caught him and although The attack only knocked Goldberg off course he was knocked right into Duchess Who made sure he went down, in fact the ogres' bodyslam knocked him clean out. The Madmen had rushed foward during the initial fight, realizing that that unless they got into it quick they would run out of linemen, they had been gradually turning the mid pitch brawl around but as a result they had nobody back in deep defense. Hotlips grabed the ball and prepared to be launched by Wumpkins in an attempt to take advantage of this lapse, but all he got for his efforts was the lovely experience of being fumbled. The fight in the center finaly won through numbers the now free humans pooled around Wumpkins and brought the ogre down, Major grabbed the unguarded ball and dissapeared down the pitch and across the line Effectively ending the game 4-0.

It was another convincing win for the madmen. Not all good news though, in the few seconds of gametime that remained the Clobberers took their revenge, delivering a serious injury to bland pizza. Still having comprehensively defeated the other two teams in the tournament the Madmen were confidant. It wasn't all bad for the Clobberers either, no permanent injury and when you look back on this game if a few goblins had landed right or been thrown at all..it could have been a very different score.
