#15 I know why the caged bird sings – Dead (RIP)
A good game against a good opponent.

Poems played poorly in the first half, not protecting the ball enough and got it marked next to the endzone. Some luck allowed me to escape that situation, and eventually The Happiest Season proved it's worth once again, passing the ball to Charge of the Light Brigade who ran and scored in turn 6. This cost me all my rerolls, however, and a failed 2+ dodge gave the Orcs 1-1 in halftime.

Second half started with a KO to another Blob, but a sharp-eyed ref noticed my foul and expelled my DP, while he caused a stun on Waaaaaaagh!s ST4 Lineorc. Things got chaotic after this, some lucky blocks gave me a 2d on the ballkeeper, and after some scuffling I managed to get the ball, pass it to The Charge of the Light Brigade again and ran. Paragon managed a -2d blitz on him that brought him down close to the endzone, but after picking up the ball the hapless blitzer tripped on a GFI, suffered a SI/Niggle and the apot slept through it all. I recovered the ball and scored 2-1 in turn 16.

Paragon played very well, and capitalized on all the mistakes I made in the first half (I'd like to believe I played better in the second half than in the first) and was very very close to winning this. The niggle was a bit of a kick in the teeth, but that's Nuffle for you. I hope for a rematch sometime down the line!

#8 Uznob – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#8 Uznob – Smashed Knee (NI)
It was a good game, and I'd gladly accept a rematch. The close ones are the most enjoyable.

If I may be so bold as to suggest a poem:

The Faded Flower

Ungrateful he, who pluck'd thee from thy stalk,
Poor faded flow'ret! on his careless way;
Inhal'd awhile thy odours on his walk,
Then onward pass'd and left thee to decay.
Ah! melancholy emblem! had I seen
Thy modest beauties dew'd with Evening's gem,
I had not rudely cropp'd thy parent stem,
But left thee, blushing, 'mid the enliven'd green.
And now I bend me o'er thy wither'd bloom,
And drop the tear - as Fancy, at my side,
Deep-sighing, points the fair frail Abra's tomb -
'Like thine, sad Flower, was that poor wanderer's pride!
Oh! lost to Love and Truth, whose selfish joy
Tasted her vernal sweets, but tasted to destroy!'

--Samuel Taylor Coleridge
